My dude, your not going to believe this. Sorry for the long story but you’ll probably get a laugh or at the very least be left scratching your head. Thanks for your help on here either way Zungar!
I figured out what was wrong… so, I went a little off the deep end. Wednesday night I formatted my ssd and did a full install of windows and updated my motherboard drivers followed by installing all my programs. After that I booted up wow with no addons. No surprise, I didnt have any lag. I started turning them on one by one. First addon i turned on I got lag. This time though it wasnt as bad. So as im setting here watching the screen waiting for the lag, I noticed my second display changed backgrounds, and within a couple seconds I lagged in game… waited another minute. Same thing… go into display options, turn off slideshow. Loaded up all my addons… No lag since. Such a weird interaction. it turned out to not even be my connection. I did replace my old cat5 with a cat6 and got to clean up my installs so at least there is that.
You’re at least the 2nd report we’ve seen of windows desktop sideshow causing lag/freezes. Definitely not the first thing we check.
I myself ever since the raid hit have issues like this. high world ms and home ms spikes. i never had this issue till then. My internet company said its on ur side of things ive had 7 tech visits over the past year. so idk what to do anymore its very unplayable at times with delayed casting. an i also see people skipping around the openworld area’s
this^^^ is the same thing im talking about

Significant packet loss as soon as it hits suddenlink. You’d want to call your isp, who i assume to be suddenlink.
Does this happen all the time or only certain times?
I’m in the same boat its good to know I’m not the only one experiencing these high latency issues. For me its only an issue in dungeons and raids. I’ll be fine but every other 10secomds I get 2-3 seconds of lag As the network tries to catch up. I just started noticing Saturday night. My home ping is perfect at about 60ms which is normal for me. world ping is usually fluctuate between 500-2k. It makes it unbearable to try and play. Im to the point I may just cancel subscription for awhile since I can’t raid mythic and do high mythic plus keys the main thing I enjoy in the game.

Hey everyone. I’ve had a weird stuttering/freezing issue I’ve been trying to sort out that I finally solved. I initially thought it was a hardware thing. Then I though it was my antivirus. The problem persisted though. I have tried so many different things, and the fix I found was buried in a thread on the 3rd page of google search results. I figured maybe this could help some folks on this thread.
In Windows Settings>Personalization>Colors, uncheck the “Automatically pick an accent color from my background.” Believe it or not, all of the freezing/stuttering across all of my games stopped after I unchecked this. This one, stupid little checkbox.
Maybe this won’t be your solution, but it’s worth a shot if it is checked. I hope this helps somebody!

Its literally on Blizzards end, they wont admit it but it is.
Sitting here with 90ms (which is already high and abnormal ping that only occurs specifically in WoW for me) home. Meanwhile world server has a ping of 600ms?! And this is supposedly my fault how? Not to sound entirely condescending here, but Blizzard does know that it’s playerbase doesn’t exclusively play WoW right? Many of us know what performance looks like in other titles on other platforms from a million other genres. Many people have specified it is only WoW for them that does this. Why are we still trying to push this off on the user?
Because the path the user’s data takes to the blizzard servers matters.
It’s entirely understood that Blizzard intentionally swamped their own servers to allow for increased player count, and immediately suffered issues as a result. Those ramifications are still being felt throughout. My personal lag issues, are on my specific server with all my mains (Tichondrius). And evidently, the lag is felt absolute worst in BGs. This isn’t user error. This is 100% Blizzard from top to bottom, because they wanted to avoid re-introducing new servers again. As they have been doing for a while now. 2 Seconds on Google addresses most of this. It’s just bewildering that Blizzard is still not directly acknowledging it in the forums, and instead are making concerted efforts to tell customers that their ISP and routers are the issue. That is simply untrue.

The raid is literally unplayable for me and I have received no answer from blizzard. Every night since the raid launched at around 7pm eastern on Stormrage NA, world ms starts to climb and entering the raid it goes to 400+ and never comes down while my home ping remains at normal levels between 40 and 50. I’ve checked with my ISP and had techs come replace my equipment and the problem persist to where I am being sat for progression do to being a liability in raid.

I’ve made a similar post with my WinMTR and DxDiag info, still waiting on a response. I’m just guessing here but my unfortunate assumption is that it’s gonna be an ISP issue. Hope my info can get looked at and responded too soon.
