High Elves are not blue-eyed Blood Elves

They’re the same species, yes. No one is trying to say they’re not. The response trotted out misses the problem.

People are asking for a specific flavor of High Elf, with a specific set of events that happened in recent history, that sets them apart thematically from Blood Elves. They’re looking for a specific kind of Thalassian Elf.

Blood Elves, by definition, are High selves by species. They are not, however, the specific group being requested.

If you ask for chocolate ice cream with fudge chips and someone gives you chocolate ice cream with mint chips, they didn’t give you what you asked for. They’re both chocolate ice cream but if you love fudge and hate mint one is ideal and the other intolerable.

I’m all for Blood Elves being High Elves, because technically they are. But let’s not use “The devs said” as an argument. Because they say A LOT of things that turn out to be garbage or they go back on.

No one’s saying Blood Elves aren’t a type of High Elf.

Ignoring that there are high elves on both factions, Quel’dorei on the Alliance and Sin’dorei on the Horde, is ignoring lore.

No kidding.

Ion said Blood Elves were the “fair-skinned elf” fantasy.

If the customization options are to be believed, he was clearly wrong about that.

Dude after Arthas curb stomped them there are probably what?? Less than 500 of them left? They arn’t a strong people and they are literally just blood elves without a good story arch.

Or the biggest one being "No flying in WoD’

But that’s basically the lore on most races…

Darkspears nearly extinction by murlocs, the tiny echo isles is all that remains…

Taurens nearly extinct by centaurs.

Goblins all we get is survivors from a boat.

Gnomes nearly extinct by that plague/infection.

Void Elves are literally like 10 people.

Worgens are just a town Gilneas.

Like they are all were basically on the brink of extinction…so you can’t use that arguement for High Elves really, if you go by lore…

Then why do we have void elves? Purple blood elves are fine, but blue eyes aren’t?

Exaaaactly!!! Bingo

It was a compromise.

Alliance wanted a Horde race copied and pasted over.

Instead they got a variation of the blood elf model that remained different enough to still keep to the faction divide.

Mirror , mirror on the wall…

Lol people trying to hang onto this high elf thing soooooooo hard lmao. Blizzard finds a new way to tell yall it’s not happeneing every expac. They could literally kill off all the remaining high elves in the game and completely delete any data in the game regarding high elves and yall would still be like “this doesn’t necessarily mean they wont come”

Lore wise Goblins pop babies like rabbits. Void Elves have been recruiting. Worgen are born from an entire nation and the peninsula lore-wise is huuuuge. So the population numbers go up and down.

There are more high elves than void elves.

Exactly, so the High Elves havnt been either?, we going off a story that happened how many years ago?, wouldn’t High Elves be doing the same??

I always feel that was a big mistake and I just know it was because they felt the Chinese market would go crazy if only one faction got them. They could have done Giant Panda on Alliance and Red Pandas on Horde and I think that would have been OK.

also I want to point that that canonically the bilgewater cartel hired A LOT of goblins after joining the horde and setting up in azshara.

What we see on the ship is the original bilgewater goblins. All of those we meet that are not them were hired either as independent goblins or from other cartels.
