Personally I like Renâdorei, but we really should have got Broken Draenei instead. They were actually around on Argus, and we interacted with them just enough that it couldâve been done. Lightforged Draenei couldâve either been customization options for core Draenei or the other Allied Race anyway, and just been introduced later down the line.
I still like my Lightforgedâs of course, but âŚI often do find myself wondering on what might have been.
Void Elves could definitely have been introduced later down the line as the Void became even more relevant.
Youâre really reaching there. There was nothing there for you to be touchy about. Yes, Void Elves have significantly more physical differences, including optional tentacles, while the physical difference between Blood Elves and Alliance high elves is eye color, which isnât even a defining difference. There is nothing to prevent a blue eyed high elf from deciding to start calling themselves a Blood Elf. However, they would need to chew on an Ever Lasting Gobstopper to be a Void Elf. Further at this point the Void Elf story is pretty similar to the Alliance high elf story of the Exiles. They are pro-Alliance and were given the boot from Silvermoon.
I love Void Elves. They have that whole drunk on power vibe. I canât wait to see where they go with it. Itâs just too bad they had no real role in taking down NâZothâŚTthough Iâm sure they will cannonicaly which weâll learn about in an interview only a few people will watch.
Drunk on power? Umbricâs shown to be the exact opposite of that. Man is super chill and actually really awesome. I wish Blizzard did more with them though, considering heâs basically the only named Void Elf in lore. Hopefully Blizzard can make them into something the Alliance really loves in Shadowlands. Iâd be really happy to accept these guys as a High Elf replacement if they actually had some decent lore behind them.
Not touchy. Mostly just tired of going through the same bickering over this obsession that Horde players somehow own a model when Alliance had the first ones anyway. Then thereâs the whole âVoid Elves are okay because they have tentacles and purple skin, but High Elves arenât!â when they rip off Blood Elves in story AND model. Their two seconds of silly transformation doesnât negate the fact they were banished by the Blood Elves they still are. So this whole focus on what they look like is tiresome on so many levels for me. I should have known better and ignored it, but I was curious if there was actually something substantial after all this time on why Void Elves are so wonderful.
Because theyâre not a Horde race. On the contrary, blood elves are former members of an Alliance race; who defected to the Horde. High elves are the ones who didnât defect, have fought for the Alliance ever since it formed, and still fight for the Alliance to this day.
I love Blood Elves, and my love of Void Elves comes from my love of Blood Elves.
They get the same attitude/personalities, and lore that I love, and take it to this Yennefer of Vengeburg esque narrative for basically wanting power for powers sake, they are unique to Alliance in the sense of they seem a bit sketchy the way Forsaken were sketchy on Horde for a lot of their time on Horde.
At the end of the day it was a race I could relate to and love on Alliance⌠I think I like the High Elf narrative less then both the Void Elves and then Blood Elves theyâre kinda tied for my number 1 spot but that doesnât stop me from advocating for High Elves.
I genuinely feel for the traditional Alliance fans who have been wanting Alliance High Elves, because I would say Void Elves fill more of a niche narrative appeal, and as a Blood Elf player I think it adds to faction rivalry to have them in, and as someone who loves Elves and knows how important it is to relate to the race you choose to play in game I just really root for the Alliance High Elf narrative to be told and made playable!
99% of their race left the alliance in between WC 2 and WC 3.
They didnât join the Horde in the 7(?) year time span up until TBC, during which they requested, and were denied aid by the alliance, but given aid by the Horde.
You canât defect if youâre not a partof the group to begin with anyway.
This notion that high elves are somehow loyal to the alliance isnât really supported. I mean, their people were literally dying and they chose not to go at all. I am not sure how they are a display of loyalty if staying in alliance cities is more loyal than trying to save your race from extinction.
But that is the thing Kirela.
Those who have the model would get priority over those who donât, but desire it.
I mean, appearance wise, void elves just have glowy hair + nonnormal skin.
If lore is an issue, it can be added to accordingly.
I donât see a reason to make a racial slot for a race that is already playable, and wouldultimately be another lazy AR reskin.
high elves are a horde race and the alliance high elves are cut off from their people, their lands, their traditions and everything else that makes them high elves(well, vereesa is at least). if you want to be a high elf, that is a blood elf(confirmed by the game director)
What lore is specific to the Void Elves though? Like, all we have is their introduction questline. Saying that all the Blood Elf and High Elf history is enough kind of feels like a sellout to me. We honestly have no idea what theyâre like as a people.
I mean, what is there to really add?
Part of the issue with high elves is that w already know what they are like as a people, and what they are like, is basically the same as the blood elves.
Its hard to add to something youâve touched on repeatedly.
Void elves themselves are recently birthed, so it makes sense they hold on to their heritage and cultural practices. I canât see them really developing something brand new out of nowhere. That takes time.
