High Elf POSITIVITY Thread 😎

As I edited that post I did add

Here is the thing though Tarrok, and everyone else using the same argument from Xalneth

Sorry if it feels like I am targeting you, but it is actually meant for everyone. Doesn’t matter if Pro or Anti.

It’s just frustrating when players pat Blizz so hard on the back for all this “trope breaking” development regarding the Blood Elves and “amazing story” because they heard a request and came up with it. We have a group that was attacked by Orcs, Trolls, and Forsaken joining the Horde (centered around… Orcs, Trolls, and Forsaken at the core) because… They needed a carry to get back to their leader and their undead waifu, who is now dead but won’t stop making life difficult for everyone around her, is there?

Oh and that whole mess is supposed to be the biggest obstacle for Alliance players and their request for playable High Elves. Okay. It sounds incredibly hypocritical to me.

Well admittedly, when I first got into it, they actually looked like this

But damn, load that thing up with lasers and heatsinks, fire 'em all at once and hope you don’t shut down immediately, but damn that’d blow limbs off an Atlas in one hit that way.

I’m just going with the argument that there were a variety of reasons for the addition.

I’m just saying though, I wouldn’t use that of what Xalneth said, as I said earlier, he was the lead dev based around the Warlock class.

After all, the Anti’s could be correct, or the Pro’s could be correct. But without any full proof, nobody really knows the true reason to why.

Personally I thought Blood Elves went Horde because it made the most sense narratively, though it could have been written either way, hindsight their personalities stand out more in Horde.

As to Alliance High Elves I can’t fathom why they are taking so long to implement but their reluctance to fold them into Void Elves is telling that we could very well see them playable. So I remain hopeful, optimistic, and will continue to voice my support as always :blue_heart:

I mean it’s fine if players like Blood Elves being Horde and enjoy their story or whatever, but I don’t and I don’t see how that makes High Elves for Alliance players a crime. You and I can go enjoy Blood Elves on Horde, or we can play High Elves on Alliance and it has nothing to do with the Horde. This isn’t 2004 anymore. Horde don’t need to be carried aesthetically.

Oh yeah no that gets no contest from me, I agree. The Alliance High Elf I support, advocate for, and believe in the validity of the request.

Personally its because I prefer Blood Elves and my love of them I want High Elves implemented as I think it adds to the story I love, and I know other people will finally get the race they love as much as I love Blood Elves.

It’s more or less I also believe in the validity of the Blood Elves on Horde from a narrative stand point.

I have tried to point out that High Elves finally becoming playable actually solidifies Blood Elves in my opinion, but there’s this apparent obsession with exclusivity or something which doesn’t even make a lick of sense in my mind. It’s a mess honestly and it keeps growing as Blizz dances around it (ahem… Void Elves). It’s also disgusting to me that they will rip off Alliance if it benefits the Horde (in races and story), but Alliance need to scrounge because we had dumpy humans and Night Elves at the start. How long does Alliance have to pay because they decided to make a universe centered around Orcs vs Humans with races separated by faction? It’s not my fault that Horde started with the “ugly” races. I’m not going to do cartwheels and thank Blizz over and over for things like humans, KT, and diaper gnomes. Nope. Blizz needs to shift in a lot of ways in my eyes, or the frustration will continue.

Why do people think it’s actually a good story? Like, I understand the whole “abandoning the trope” thing, but it wasn’t done right. It would have made more sense if theses guys were always evil. Having them randomly abandon their morals and allies seemed so strange to me. Genuinely curious. I personally (obviously) would have much preferred them staying with the Alliance and Horde getting Draenei.

Elyssaria re-enters the thread!

How is everyone?? Y’all staying safe out there?

Draenei don’t make any sense either thanks to the Orcs though. Like they needed to dig a lot deeper if they were going to pass it off in a truly believable way. You can’t have Orcs make a road out of dead Draenei and then have them join forces. You can’t have some High Elves become edgy and get a new name and join up with Orcs, Trolls, and Forsaken. You can’t have Pandaren join the Horde after MoP either. You can’t have dead Night Elves snuggling up to their murderers either. So their whole central theme with Horde either crumbles along with the faction divide so they can continue this ridiculous dance between Horde being the Horde they are supposed to be, but then they aren’t sometimes, and then say “Hey, Vulpera hate Alliance because they were mean to them and the Horde helped them”. Well… Alliance were nice to High Elves and helped them, and incorporated them into their faction over all this time as well, Blizz. The Horde were not nice to them, but yeah… All is forgiven and they go “bad boy” to join the Horde. Ugh.

Everything is going good

I have the most fun on my priest as holy tbh. Been working on my main, finally stepped into the m+ realm of wow.

I know, I checked it out when they started adding clan mechs, and it’s just not the same

I like holy the best too! I was shadow but I was holy before now I am holy again. Full circle or half circle what have you.

Good luck! I get too nervous to do that, my friend keep offering to carry me but it gives me anxiety, one day perhaps.

On my warlock I am deciding between destruction and demonology but I find demonology fun so I think I’m gonna stick with it until it is no longer so! He’s only 80 right now though!

This has absolutely no baring on the discussion and is just an excuse to try and exclude the words of someone based on what they were designing. Do you think the devs are not consulted as a whole? Do you think devs just sit in a tiny cubicle and work entirely isolated without knowing what is occurring?
The matter is probably a number of factors which resulted in BE going to the Horde. Which is likely what occurred.

It definitely can be, but it’s always nice to have someone carry just to get the hang of it.

They didn’t abandon their morals or their allies.

To me the scourge event triggered a shift in their personality. We see Lord Saltheril throwing a party in the starting zone for Eversong, we see some Blood Elves relentlessly fighting for Quel’thalas, but overall everyone has a sense of heightened pride. The Blood Elves I think are more prideful then they were as High Elves or at least more outwardly so, in winter spring we see a HE ghost interact with us and a BE counterpart ghost tell the same story but from his POV he shows contempt for the HEs that came before him and the HE showed pity for the BE that came after him.

As for allies, the Alliance was SABOTAGING Eversong and Ghostlands. They also remembered Garithos. And then in comes the Dark Lady, former Ranger General of Silvermoon, who instead of sabotaging their efforts helps them, and extends an offer into the Horde which offers them security.

I’ll agree with Alliance High Elves being on Alliance and playable all day long. But I do not subscribe to the belief Blood Elves don’t make sense on Horde, or that it was a mistake. The only mistake in my book is not having the Alliance High Elves be playable. The two are vastly different personality wise that people will tend to like one over the other, and I think respectively personality wise they fit in the faction they both currently are on… only one however and unfortunately is playable.

I find it a similarly delinquent response on your part given it does not change the content of my post nor its meaning in anyway. :man_shrugging:

Fact of the matter is decisions are made for a multitude of reasons. Shocking, I know.
