High Elf POSITIVITY Thread 😎

I’m so confused.

What are you talking about? How is Trump putting our country at risk?

That’s a battle being waged on Capitol hill, it has little to do with Trump. That being said, we’d better not continue to discuss politics

JOHN STAATS, AUTHOR OF ‘THE WORLD OF WARCRAFT DIARY’, ON THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HIGH ELVES AND BLOOD ELVES
Q: How far into development of bc did the team decide on blood elfs. At the time you where there, did they consider blood elfs as high elfs , or think of them as 2 different races?

A: They were distinct pretty early on - the Blood Elf starting zone was one of the earliest pieces of BC content and was highly polished by the time we rolled into testing. I do remember a certain poor 3d artist having to chop the Silvermoon city into pieces because it was so overloaded many GPUs would overheat just loading it. OH - one thing I vaguely remember was that Blood Elves were based on a STRONG request from a poll of asian players (either korean or chinese - I can’t remember which was live at that point) - where many remarked on the horde side that they and their girlfriends wanted a non-creepy femme race to play.

so what does this change? we know there were a variety reasons of giving high elves to the horde not just one

you guys cling to every little damn nuance. just like with ion, completely ignoring the context that high elves are playable as blood elves and theres no plans but because he threw out a platitude at the end, its still possible!

P.S. he said he vaguely remembers a poll asking for a non monster race female based on a poll for asian players :woman_shrugging:

Another day of supporting Alliance Quel’dorei, one of my biggest asks/wants out of this game

Anyways I have a few things to do, and I’m off to paint Pandaria Red as per the cinematic told me! Also trying to figure out if Glyph of the Wrathguard is purely cosmetic which I think it is but I like to be entirely sure sigh

I am drawing my future.

Does not stop us from being fans of the ones who remained alliance.

This thread is not about blood elves though, it’s about high elves (who did not change their name to blood elf).
You’re being a little dramatic over a bunch of people being fans.

I personally want Vrykul more than high elves, but I can still support both somehow without flailing around and telling people what they have to want…imagine that

He cannot follow through because of the senate, currently there are 5 republican senators out with covid-19. And the democratic house speaker Nancy Pelosi is trying to push her own agenda on to this bill that is supposed to be for covid-19. Basically, both parties of the senate may be at fault but due to my personal bias I at least believe that the democrats shouldn’t being doing this. We don’t even know what is in the current bill though so these claims that the democrats just want to push the Green New Deal might be false. Who knows.

But it is about blood elves, because you guys just want to play blood elves on the alliance by claiming they’re high elves.

That’s an important word you want to gloss over there

I love when people tell us what we want.

So you’d rather believe a narrow perspective than the bigger picture. I suppose it goes against your views to realize even if his vague memory of an asian poll is a fact it’s clear from another dev that it would only have been one part of why the team chose Blood/High elves for the Horde.
Honestly…it’s kind of sad but I guess you have to do what makes you feel good about this topic.

Then point that out to your fellow Helfers because they are the ones who keep bringing them up.

Blood Elves have Fel/Light eye glow, High Elves don’t. The former are Horde aligned, the latter favor the Alliance (at least the specific group we’re asking for). And for some strange gameplay reason, the former have strong pink/peach/reddish skin tones, while the latter have white/pale ones.

Because that’s what they are. They’re not blood elves, because they’re the ones who didn’t become blood elves. How hard is that to understand?

I am also keeping in mind that most of the dev team were not even there when the decision to add in blood elves and even the development of TBC happened.

The few devs that were working on WoW at the time that still are were not in positions of importance that would be deciding these things.

Blood Elves were chosen as the Horde expansion race in the Burning Crusade because designers were thrilled with how well Samwise had redesigned the classic wood elves with the night elves. And they knew that, “one day, high elves are going to have to get a facelift, too.

“I don’t think anyone has abused high elves to this degree,” Metzen said.

Vrykul falls into a neat category of indifference for me, but also I’d be curious to see them.

Overall the only ones I’m not a big fan of are Ogres, but even them I’m not against and would be happy for people who got them. shrugs

I’m with you Dorp, other people’s enjoyment doesn’t effect me, and I’m happy for them. But I also respect people who do not want High Elves, but in the end I hope the pro side is vindicated if that makes sense.

Actually the HE should have yellow eyes as well as they are also linked to the cleansed sunwell.
