Wait, can you stab someone with WoW glaives? I thought they were slashy-slashy weapons, not the stabby stabby kind

for some reason I’m channeling “True Facts” videos at the moment

Glaves are actually a type of polearm.

The closest thing to DH glaves is an Indian dagger.

Yeah, but in fantasy the word glaive seems to have no real meaning, Wow thinks they’re like one handed klingon swords, White wolf, wait, they just made up the word klaive as far as I can tell and used that to mean big pointy anime swords basically, Krull (and Warframe) think of them as like giant elaborate cousins to the ninja star,

Then there are the Hammer weapons in WoW. Extra flat and wide at the end to spread out the force of the blow to do minimal damage.

Yeah, but hammers all come off of a similar base, handle with a mass at the end. (and hey, if you could actually swing something that big around with speed it’d be like a small wrecking ball and still land a pretty hefty blow)

But glaives (and I’m gonna stick the klaives in as I’ve seen people use glaives to describe similar weapons) are all over the place

I will try to be positive.

I am positive that there will never be high elves in WoW.

Seriously, it wouldn’t be anything more than a bloodelf reskin, and not even a good one. Just blue eyes.

The alliance deserves more effort than that.

Kinda goes with the entire backhanded sword style idea taken to the extreme.

Which itself is another level of fantasy.

The Krull type is the one that bothers me, because, how the hell do you throw that without seriously injuring your hand?

With enough forward momentum by the time you let go.

Still a high chance of cutting you though.

It would be better with a handle like those african throwing “knives”.

I don’t think so, without being excessively careful, you’re still liable to stick yourself in the arm just in getting it in a position to throw as wrist movement is important in something that needs like a frisbee spin to actually work, and you have your hand far enough in that there’s still a good chance you’ll stab/slash yourself with the throwing motion itself.

That’s why I said it needs a handel like a Kpinga/Hunga Munga.

The safest bet with that thing is hooking your index finger around and extending it as you throw. Not that safe though.

When will yall learn that the great High Elf War is over, it was over when void elves were announced. Helfers have lost. But most of them aren’t even aware of it, they still continue on fighting being nothing more than a dwindling rebellion in a war that they have lost already and have no chance of winning.

Well yeah, but those are real things that people have made to actually use, not for a game/movie. And I still see it way too easy in winding up for the throw to end up slashing the heel of your hand and wrist, or to put the next blade along into the back of your arm just to get enough bend in your wrist to get a good spin going. Plus the krull one always looked backwards to me, seems like you’d want the concave side going into the spin so that it’d dig in like a claw when it hits.

This wouldn’t change anything though.
The high elves would continue being alliance whether or not they’re playable in the future.
So you’re basically saying that alliance high elves are okay as long as they aren’t payable? This is mainly what’s disturbing.

Every playable race that’s joined the horde and the alliance, are horde an alliance due to the story.
I don’t doubt that some stories are unfinished, but that’s not the point.

Everyone who’s posting here is somewhat aware of the lore. It puzzles me that you’d even say that, you can get the most basic idea of what the lore is just by playing the game.

Orcs originating on draenor, forming the horde, other races joining later on, etc. Blizzard didn’t just poof blood elves, trolls, forsaken, etc. into the horde. They all have their own stories and history in how they joined the horde.

And it’s funny that you mention game play when a played race objectively has zero effect on your game play.
Me playing a nightborne, has no effect on you playing a blood elf, and vice versa.

Except it is… this just makes you seem even more misinformed. If you don’t even pay attention to the lore, you’re basically a lost soul here.
Even the anti thread OPs use lore as their primary points, because that’s really the only way we can justify a race being playable, pre-established lore.
Hence every single race request whether it’s sethrak, vrykul, vulpera, etc. These are based on the lore shown to us.

You’re basically just being a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian at this point if you’re going to suddenly disregard lore.
And on top of it, you’re clearly aware of the lore, but choose not to acknowledge it when it’s convenient to you.

Which starts with a story as the base, which expanded over 25 years.

The race someone plays has no effect on your game play.
This isn’t like the corruption system, ilvl, flying, etc. Which directly affect game play.

Whether I play a nightborne mage or a goblin mage, your gameplay will remain the same.

I didn’t mean this as you not responding…

If you’re going to stay here and argue with people, at least acknowledge that lore is the main factor when it comes to playable races. It’s what this entire topic revolves around, I’m not telling you to leave but if you’re going to discuss the topic, at least have some understanding on what it’s about. You’re off to a terrible start if you think lore isn’t important in a lore-based request.

No amount of “no YOU THINK…insert my previous statement” changes that, considering lore is something that is available to everyone. You know what isn’t available to everyone? A magic crystal ball that tells you what’s “good/bad for game design healths” as you put it, especially when it comes to what race someone irrelevant to you is playing.

I agree.

I think their idea was that it sliced through its target but that just doesn’t work.

I wasn’t aware that being a high elf fan/supporting high elf fans = causing a war. Being part of a rebellion seems pretty badass though
