High Elf POSITIVITY Thread 😎

And what will it say when you post on the forums? You could have light skin, light blue eyes but that tag is still gonna say void elf.

It’ll probably be easy to tell what people prefer which title based on the customization they used, but I’m not going to assume. At the very least if I see a VE using HE customization and then they proceed to call themselves a HE I’ll understand.

Same thing if we get San’layn or undead BE stuff.

Eh, as someone who will still do it, it tends to be less trolling and more pushing back on the people that pretend that changing a name changes the race. It’s more shorthand for the fact that blood and high elves are the exact same race when people are abusing things like proclamations that honor the dead, or a dev talking about how the story changed to pretend that they are biologically distinct.

So the same situation when Blood Elf posters call themselves High Elves. It doesn’t effect my character who would never call himself a High Elf.

We’ll just have to wait and see what appears on alpha. I won’t complain if we don’t get BE hairstyles or their specific hair colors but it would be nice to at least get a few unique shades of some of them if nothing else. We do seem to be getting the same black hair color that BE’s are getting though so I’m hopeful for more cross-pollination as it were.

I would say that if Void Elves are getting any Blood Elf hairstyles (we still don’t know yet), then the Void Elf non-tentacle hairstyles should be shared with Blood Elves in kind. The colors are really up in the air. If any proliferation happens it might not be exact ports but rather different shades of the other’s colors. For example, we might not get any of the blonde options that BE’s have but that doesn’t mean Blizzard couldn’t give us a shade of blonde that BE’s don’t currently have. It’s basically just a matter of time till we find out.

I have never once seen a Blood Elf on these forums calling themselves a high elf. I would welcome examples of this.

I’m not a huge fan of the void theme and wanted high elves as their own race. I don’t have control over what blizzard decides.

If they can’t make them a separate race I think a toggle would be nice. A high elf toggle could change the name, maybe give a more arcane visual for the racial, and that sort of thing.

I was actually kind of hoping for something like that.

Getting different shades of hair colours to what the Blood Elves have would be really awesome, imo. Instead of their platinum blondes and really bright hair colours, maybe our Void Elves could get dirty blondes, etc.

If I could have it my way though, I’d give both Void Elves and Blood Elves each others hair and beard options.

You haven’t been around long then.

Take a trip around the High Elf threads and the blue eyes for Blood Elf threads.

They are nothing but, Blood Elf players calling themselves High Elves.

Players are getting what was viewed as the most desirable compromise, if they couldn’t have High Elves then many were okay with human-like skin tones for the velves. Players are only calling them high elves in name only, not asking blizz to remove velves.

It’s actually a great story point for the Velves imho, whether it’s the high elf wayfarers or blood elves learning to harness the void, or… velves regaining their corporeal bodies, much better than them being perma-void stained. It won’t hurt anything if people are asking for high elf themes, or the Allerian themes to be honest.

This is what I hope happens. With the toggle they could allow the “High Elf” option to have Paladins. Possibly Druids/Shamans depending where they go with their story. But at the very least it would open Paladins to them.

And with that they could change their racials to something different or at the very least give them a different visual to fit the High Elf aesthetic.

I call this idea a “race skin” but they can probably make a better name for it.

We keep all the essential gameplay mechanics of Void Elves, but layer it with what a seperate High Elf race would of looked like.

It’s pretty much similar to the Zandalari and their loa racial.

That’s my hope, having different class options depending on which you select would be nice.

What are you taking? I think I’m gonna need some after the head ache I am suffering from blizz’s pure laziness and bad game design.

Void, light, opposing energies. make big boom boom!

The alternative being going back to campaigning for HE as an AR spot. I think its petty to deny HE themes with the new customizations, and also to police what other people consider their characters.

lol…Pretty sure i’ve been around for a while

I think you’re mistaken about those threads though. Blood Elf players don’t call themselves high elves. They do, however, acknowledge that they are former high elves but have renamed themselves in honor of their fallen brothers/sisters.

To be honest, it’s not my desired outcome by any stretch, Silver covenant would have been ideal. Who knows maybe this makes the inclusion of another AR more likely? Non voided elves, if they don’t fix the entropic embrace people will still be asking for just high elves.

Just give me an elf Paladin… be it night elf or high elf is my main goal.

I understand that people aren’t asking to remove them. I have no problem with the customization options and the void elves learning to better control the void and having different skin tones etc but cmon guys really, people are now asking for void elf paladins? asking for them to be less voidy just so they can look more like a high elf?

That’s what I have a problem with. People can RP their hearts out if they wanna pretend to be a blood elf.

They tend to not mention that last part, but they’re not wrong, but they also don’t accept that they are no long the group “High Elves”, they are Blood Elves, the lore does nothing but continue to show this.

Alliance has what the Warcraft canon recognizes as “High Elves”, Blood Elf players can claim they are what we’re talking about when we say “High Elves”, but they are not, because we have always been talking about our Alliance High Elves.
