Void Elves came out of nowhere with 0 pre-established lore, whereas Nightborne had a heavy focus for pretty much an entire expansion before going to the Horde.
They are barely comparable outside models, in which case, oops, we should have had high elves instead.
The entire existence of this race is a double standard, and a piss-poor excuse to not give the Alliance a race thatâs had more of a presence within itâs lore since WoTLK than any allied race weâve gotten. (Bar Magâhar, which should have been a base customization option for orcs.)
Iâd be playing Ethereal if we had gotten that instead. Apparently, I need to post on an alt to have any playing field with antis because the fact I enjoy void aesthetics means Iâm a High Elf or something. (PS: Still probably wouldnât play one. Theyâre aesthetically boring, but needed.)
This is my belief too, it adds so much to both fan bases, and adds to faction rivalry more than anything.
I personally think decisions need to be made from lore standpoints. Itâs what keeps fans well⌠fans. I was trying to express that earlier, my only issue with Alliance HEs is when people start out of left field about a shared neutral Quelâthalas or taking BEs out of the Horde for a neutral race which is stealing / stepping on toes from my POV because I view things from a lore standpoint so in lore you think the smaller population of HEs lays claim to Quelâthalas? If anything theyâd integrate into BE society if they returned and that wouldnât be good for the request so I find it imperative they emphasize theyâve moved on from being connected to Quelâthalas in the sense the Sinâdorei are.
I think things would be better story wise too if Blizzard always put lore first. It extends to all aspects of the game improving.
Youâre right. Weâre playing a group that seem to have a full rich lore and was a focus of the start of an expansion.
/sarcasm
Thing is, the Pro-Helfers have not been asking for a compromise of the High Elves. What has been asked for is what we already have within the Alliance. The group of High Elves from either the Silver Covenant or the Highvale Elves, or all the other groups out there, to be made playable for the Alliance. Not a group of âOh, lets just repaint them, job doneâ race that has had no relevance or lore to there introduction.
Well we donât want quelâthelas. We want the high elves that have lived in human kingdoms and as a result transferred into the new alliance as being part of those kingdoms.
There is also those of the draenor expedition that as a whole the entire expedition joined the grand alliance upon contact being reestablished.
No argument back there dear, just you making wildly incorrect and sometimes even ignorant jabs in regards to the Blood Elf race (I mean I´d recommend to instruct yourself on Belf lore before coming here to sprout how horrible and âincoherentâ they were implemented.
I repeat: you want us to either a) support you or b) not get in your way? Practice some actual respect and stay nice and quiet regarding Belves and their lore; especially taking into account you are NOT precisely the most informed individual on such topic.
Whad?
Which "Lord"a re you talking about? Let´s see: Lord Garithos? As in the Marshall in charge of the Alliance of Lordaeron surviving military, who was SO incredibly unpoliced and let to do whatever he wanted in teh name of the Alliance even the Council of the Six (the actual governing body of Dalaran and member of the political group) let him condemn to death a fellow nation ruler with no trial involved (heck, it´s even worse when we take into account Kael´thas was too a member of the Council of the Six ergo a ruling member of Dalaran too).
People loooves to pretend it was Garithos what pushed the Belves, but you know what? They´re wrong. Heck, they are SO wrong Sarah Pine had to spell it to them in Lor´themar´s short story (I mean Rommath basically says Garithos was a madman and that was it; but his ire and the ire of the Blood Magi? 100% against Dalaran and the Council; who stayed quiet and apathetic while de demented a*hole tried to hang the elves unlawfully. THAT was the actual betrayal, dear).
You´ll feel surprised what is people willing to do and stand when they´re desperate. And the Belves at the end of the Third War, after watching the traumatic death of 90% of their population, were the very deffinition of DESPERATE people.
Why do I have the feeling you guys haven´t even had the decency of reading other CANON lore material like the Sunwell Comics/Manga or Liadrin´s Novella (Blood of the Highborne) nor the old Knaak´s novels before coming here to sprout wild claims?
Dear, your point was that no lore is valid if it gets implemented AFTER the original narrative put on the games⌠and WC3 was, unfortunately for you lot, the previous game and lore source of Vanilla WoW.
Ergo, those âAllianceâ aligned High Elf NPCs in Vanilla WoW? a retconn according to the narrative of WC3:TFT. AAAAND under your premise, non valid to support the playable race. I repeat: congrats in shooting yourself in the proverbial foot, hardcore antis will love it.
Btw, sucks when one´s argument gets properly applied exposing the double standards, ne?
Ansirem and Modera say âHiâ. Also the Wildhammer (who mind you, never lifted a finger to help Quel´thalas in the 5 years the nation had to put itself together alone), and Ironforge (who were happy to spy but not happy to actually offer help and support openly), Tyrande and the Sentinels (who again, were happy to go spy and police the Belves -a VERY stupid move when she simply could have tried to contact Kael´thas directly- but not happy to actually offer help like they did with Gilneas who they didn´t knew btw) and Stormwind.
Heck, even Veeresa aknowledges in Knaak´s novels they (as in her and her OP Gary Stu of a husband) knew of the plights happening on Quel´thalas. Did they help or informed the rest of the Alliance nations (Stormwind that mind you hosted a bucnh of survivors from Lordaeron and the Scarlet Crusade happily informing about the happenings on Tirisfal et al).
Sorry, but A LOT of the âAlliance that screwed the Blood Elvesâ is still runing rampant and unapologetic.
I repeat: desperation makes for strange bedfellows⌠I suppose none of you have experienced an actual genuine desperate moment in your lives (how fortunate, pray it never happens cause I´m not sure you guys may have the mental strenght to confront it).
Btw, Forsaken under such name have never ever being lad by Arthas Menethil nor Terenas Menethil. Which makes the asseveration they âwere lead by the actual individual that hurt themâ wrong by principle. Heck if the argument against Orcs and Trolls if the âleadershipâ, guess what? No Doomhammer nor Zul´jin either on Horde, which accoprding to you makes them a 100% valid option ^^. With this I agree, heck even Chronicles agree (apparently Lor´themar had a lot of good chemistry with Thrall and Cairne and Vol´jin and this was crucial in him subscribing to the Horde).
Of course you want to, with the current dev team obssesed with villain batting the Horde races for the lols.
I heavily oppose to any type of interaction between the Blood Elves and hypothetical playable High Elves; sorry but most of the times the people that desires this just want it as a way to âstick itâ to the Belves for daring to become playable on Horde.
And such childish disrespectful stance is absolutely a no-no. You want playable Helves? wonderful, I won´t stay in your way AS LONG AS you keep your favs nice and VERY far away lorewise from my Belves, tyvm.
Someone didn´t play nor read the forums in the pre-patch I see⌠The amount of salty Night Elf posters at the time was only possible to be surpassed thanks to Teldrassil.
As long as you guys have this crucial part clear, I don´t see any problem. Problem starts when posters start demanding half of Silvermoon and cartoonish villain batting of Belf NPCs or outright stealing some Belf NPCs (I will never forget the idiotic suggestion made back in the Helf megathread regarding making Halduron roll Alliance Helf in the âSilvermoon War Frontâ⌠WTF!!!).
Funny, I was under the asumption you guys hated the whole Illidan redemption arcâŚ
This. This guy gets it. His is an actual respectful and sensible petition that one can in the best case support or be left alone in the worst case.
TY for not being interested in stepping on Belf players and fans´toes.
I still hope they make the Alliance High Elves playable at some point. I have several characters created just to save their names for High Elves, not including the ones I would race change in a heartbeat!
Iâm at a loss what to do with him, with my priest and warlock on Horde being my two I concentrate on, particularly more so my warlock has my heart. Kind of did it because I donât want more than 4 characters, 1 for each covenant so it leaves me with one extra horde slot and I love leveling Horde characters I enjoy the experience more. I just canât decide what I want.
Anyways all that aside, my mage is now perfectly positioned to get a race change that or my priest, to a High Elf. But Iâm also fond of VEs so one has to stay a VE. Probably make the mage a HE in all honesty
So many possibilities for race changes and new characters people would level if the race was implemented! A love of WoW is always a good thing!
