High Elf Customization Thread (Legacy of the Quel'Dorei)

This would be ideal for me I think.

Ends a lot of issues, gives players what they want, lets me have my Wildhammer.

I’m in. lol

Thats fair I think. Though I’m on the side of I want the Factions to exist, but I don’t want players barred.

Still fair I think. I wouldn’t be upset if Blizzard went either way.

I think Emet meant getting playable. >.>

Not to mention the meaning of being Sin’dorei.

It’s odd how Sin’dorei players fail to grasp what that means. They should replay WC3 as their Prince stated plainly that they are no longer Quel’dorei but Sin’dorei henceforth.

They even rebranded their entire attire towards red and gold, compared to the white and blue colors of the Quel’dorei.

It was like a rebirth for those that survived the Scourge.

Then there’s the quotes from Sin’dorei characters such as “Glory to the Sin’dorei” and not “Glory to the Quel’dorei”.

Not to mention Suramar where the Nightborne immediately could tell the difference between Quel’dorei and Sin’dorei.

We did play it. We know why we are called the children of the blood. We know what that means. It doesn’t change race.

Also had to do with our change in faction.

You mean Elisande. Yeah of course she could. Like she can tell the difference between clans. You don’t need people to be a different race to do that. Especially when one of them always just dress in blue. She also didn’t have nice things to say to anyone.

Elisande says: Behold this motley throng in which the rebels put their faith.
Elisande says: Kaldorei? You disgrace a glorious past, hiding in trees and cloaking yourselves in false piety. You have grown as savage as the trolls that skulk about your forests.
Elisande says: Quel’dorei? You are peasants playing at nobility, all too willing to mingle with lesser races that dilute your bloodline. You are unworthy of the name high elves.
Elisande says: Sin’dorei? Of all the elves, I thought you might understand the choice I made to save my people. Instead, you ally with misfits and monsters.
Elisande says: Each of you has debased your proud lineage. Each of you has forgotten the ancient power that is our birthright.
Elisande says: Let this failed rebellion be a lesson to any that would stand against the shal’dorei!

Except the renaming wasn’t a departure from being a High elf if you remember the whole speech. It’s literally to honor the High elves who had died defending Silvermoon, it’s literally meant to honor them, not move beyond them. It’s why you have to use a quote from Kael’thas, because Blood elves pretty much beyond that sentiment, they have remained the same, merely adapted to survive, but that doesn’t make them any less High elves than becoming a Void elf makes Alleria any less of a High elf.

It’s why Blood elves still speak High elven, it’s why they still wear High elven clothes, armor, and practice High elven traditions. The color change isn’t something that’s canonical since you can see High elven ruins that are also red and gold, which wouldn’t make sense if it were a color change they adopted after changing their name.

Hell for our heritage Questline we are literally turned into High elves who help defend Silvermoon from Arthas. The ending point is that Blood elves carry the torch for the High elven story, they represent the choice that 99% (or so, its always changing) made when their King sent out the edicts to return home, with a small margin of outliers who chose otherwise. The blood elves are the story of the High elves after the attack, them renaming themselves changing literally nothing.

It’s always funny when people quote Elisande because Elisande is comparing all of them against the Highborne/High elves when she makes this speech and essentially calls the Silver Covenent elves calling themselves “high elves” posers because they don’t practice nor have upheld their values as High elves, and don’t deserve to be called such.

Elisande actually equates the Blood elves closer to actual High elves than the Silver Covenant Quel’dorei at the gate. If anything Elisande mocks them for having abandoned their culture as High elves in favor of the humans, and that they are literally unworthy of being called High elves. (if you look at Alliance High elves they wear human clothes, have kids with humans, dont speak Thalassian, most have pretty much abandoned High elven views in favor of adopting the humancentric ones.) It’s why I’ve always been less against Alliance-High evles who adopt human themes like hairstyles, and less for people claiming Alliance High elves would still be wearing facepaint or putting their hair up in braids when they’ve been leading cushy lives in Stormwind this whole time.

It’s the Sin’dorei that she respects the most because they are the ones that upheld their beliefs and traditions as High elves the best, and her only critcism is kinda hypocritical considering she herself allied with mifits and monsters to aid her people’s survival.

She’s also being extra mean because she knew her days were at an end. It was the third elf that had allied with the Legion and became dangerous. Somehow she thought it’d turn out differently for her because she could see the future. But sadly for her, she saw an alt future that never happened.

All Thalassian Elves are really Helves. They just got all divided by politics and traditions. It’s just silly when someone claims because Belves renamed themselves to honor other fallen Helves that it automatically changes their race. Or act like Helves weren’t isolated and not allied with anyone for much of their existence.

Or they ignore the fact that the King of the High elves called for them to leave the alliance, and 99% of High elves had no problem up-and-ditching the Alliance at the first given opportunity, and that the small group of outliers that remained do not reflect the opinion and views of the High elves against the ruling majority who left and returned home to Silvermoon and became the playable characters.

Which is further emphasized when you look at Alliance High elves and they look or act nothing like traditional High elves would, which explains why they did not see eye-to-eye with the rest of the High elves, because they were the anomaly within their society.

So which group do we think greater represents the original High elves?

Finally got hidden.

I suspect it’ll get unflagged. Void elf and blood elf ones got that treatment too.

Here’s hoping.

It’s so weird. I don’t know what people think they accomplish with false flags. They can get suspended for doing it too.

Yeah. I don’t know. Always happens though. Just a matter of time. I expect this one to get hit at least twice though.

That was quick.

Already resolved. Thank you forum mods!

Please replay wc3.

I don’t need to? lol

In the past I was very Anti Helf, I felt it was to a degree, an insult to those who play Blood Elves because they wanted to be ‘pretty alliance elves’. When the Void Elves came out I thought…well okay the Alliance got a Thalassian flavor at last, kinda odd choice but whatever. Of course I made a Velf (or three) because it allowed me to play the Alliance side of the story without having to go with the only elf option for that side since at the time I wasn’t really into my one and only Nelf character.

And then came the options to look more like a Helf which again I didn’t like because I felt it was taking away from the Blood Elves. But I admit my Velves began using said options because I didn’t really like the original options for Velves. I liked a couple of hair styles but felt the whole ‘goth elf’ look was too limited.

Over time however I have come to enjoy having those options on the Alliance side of things, mostly because it opened more options to me RP wise for my characters on both sides (I have ‘twin’ hunters on opposite sides of the faction divide which made them a bit more interesting in their stories for me). I don’t RP them as High Elves, they are on the Alliance side for their own reasons (didn’t agree with joining the Horde in general, one left because she saw Garrosh being made Warchief leading to darker days, one chose to live in Dalaran for reasons, though that one was a Sunreaver).

I really don’t want to get into the whole ‘who are the true High Elves’ fight either but I find my opinion on players being able to play their character as a high elf on the Alliance side far less offensive personally and I believe that is because I love RP, I love telling my characters story how I see it, etc. BUT, I really have to agree that High Elves as yet another Allied Race is overkill. We have some good (mostly good) customization options to where we can be a High Elf, a Blood Elf or a Void Elf, all that is missing is the title of High Elf.

But…but…I can’t be a Pally, I turn blue in a fight, I don’t have anything custom to a High Elf! You might say. Well, fair point but the way things are going I think soon we will have Velf Pallys/Dark Pallys too (I hope, I hope, I hope cause I would do both!). I think we will even possibly FINALLY get Druids for both too (pleeeeeeeeeeeeez Blizz!). So there is a chance that could be resolved.

I fully support being able to turn off entropic embrace (or whatever it is that turns me into a blueberry in a fight) much like we can finally get the void tentacles to stop glowing in our hair. So if that is fixed, well no longer an issue when you present as a Helf! I also think being able to choose your title (Velf or Helf) would be a great solution.

Heritage armor is a little trickier because that comes with a storyline which I personally think would be an issue as a) its basically the same as Blood Elves to a point because technically we were all considered Helves when Arthas curbstomped Quel’thalas and b) where it would diverge into ‘we returned to the Alliance/set up camp elsewhere in the world/became Dalarani’ would be a bit hard to include. However, it wouldn’t be totally bad to give blue/silver recolors to the current armors the Blood Elves have (both the original heritage armor and the Paladin set and throw in a more ranger-esque set that would suit hunters on both sides in both color schemes). Maybe give another color on the hawkstriders (silver and blue could be beautiful on one) or the unicorn like horse (can’t recall the name of that mount) that is exclusively for the Alliance side.

Overall though, I look at the player created suggestions in the OP and they are gorgeous but I would rather see all the options for all Thalassian elves whether you choose to appear Void, Helf or Belf.

Yeah I said it, this ‘how dare they take our options’ gal who didn’t want to share her Belf looks would be totally okay if they were available across the board to all my Thalassian brothers and sisters. Do colors to each flavor in their ‘colors’ on the armors the whole nine yards. They spoke of ‘reuniting the tribes’ so lets dig in one another’s closets for the fight for Quel’thalas!

I don’t know if all these thoughts will make sense, but I hope they came across for the most part.

none of my toons are 472 ilvl lol

Don’t care pvp players are cringe lol

But I will stop to not derail the thread any further as it seems like a pretty cool post

personally, i think if the devs wanted to, they couldve solved this whole thing by making alliance high elves be half elves instead, with variations from queldorei-esque like arator to full on half elves like kalecgos. if done well, it would be an amazing, popular addition. but a’las, ion made it a point to have most alliance high elves killed off in various tragedies post arthas
