i have a theory - they wanted to attract both horde and alliance players and assumed the edginess of tbc blood elves was a key factor in their popularity - pretty but damaged (reason to fight the scourge). snarky, sarcastic, a bit too dark for traditional high elves. and thus was born emo…i mean, void elves. hehe
of course, that wasnt the only factor. the tbc belf models were better proportioned than other races in the game and their gear fit properly. they had good animations. they were the first horde paladins and had good racials, etc. they had alot going for them
I think Blizzard should officially add the high elves with a quest like the man’ari, that should satisfy a lot of people. New customizations would also be needed to complete their appearance (hairstyles, tattoos, etc.) and modify racial traits. The race tag should be added to races that have “sub-race” customizations (high elf, wildhammer, dark ranger, man’ari…).
Cool as it would be, i do not hold out much hope for them to ever be playable. Possibly in Midnight. But if not then, probably never.
As much as I think they should have just given us them instead of trying to appease everyone with void elves, void elves is what we got. I’d rather see all these ideas just get attached to them instead. Like the braids instead of tentacles! Super cool!
This is surely the best solution to add the high elves of the Alliance, Blizzard could also share the customizations between VE and BE if the Thalassian elves become a united people in Midnight.
An Allied race would be much preferred then trying to make them Sin’dorei or Ren’dorei. Blizzard already has pretty much all they need to do it. They just need to make it happen.
When they made the new customisations a headline thing for the shadowlands announcement I thought it had finally clicked with them. That they finally realised people really, really, really care a lot about how their character looks and it is worth investing the time in. That seemed reinforced by the extensive customisation dracthyr received. But since then it’s just been trickles and disappointment.
yep. of the possible customization combinations, the bottom five are void elves, vulpera, mechagnomes, kul’tiran and dark iron. 4 out of five are alliance allied races . le mew, le sigh. oh and worgen form. they need tail option.
There are only 3 Legion allied races that have received their new customizations (hairstyles, beards, jewelry, etc.).
Void Elves and BFA Allied Races are still waiting for their new customizations.
