Since its SUUUUUUUUUPER easy to do, tons of people will do that. I like to do a check to see if a poster is a jerk, or just having a bad day. Others do checks for people posting on alts of other posters in the thread. It takes less time to check someone out on the forums than it does to post in them.

When the Blood elves were first introduced, Metzen quite literally says to all the players.
“Blood elves are our High elves.”
