Hey Blizzard: why not provide us with some statistics?

It would be really nice to see some statistics on the number of wins/losses, by faction, on each of the Battlegrounds as well as OVERALL winds/losses in Battlegrounds, with separate stats for rated and unrated.

Beyond the value of the data itself, it would also show the player base that Blizzard is actually paying attention to faction balance in PVP and not just PVE.

I know this may seem a radical request, but we do pay to play the game, so I think requesting some statistical data in PVP would go a long way towards transparency and provide some clarity in an area of discussion that is full of anecdotal analysis on both sides.

What use would you have for this data that doesn’t result in kicking and/or screaming about something?

Blizzard is aware of faction balance, but they cannot take any action without drastically effecting player experience. That is in the hands of the player community to resolve, if they want to resolve it.
Do you think they are going to tell new players they can’t play with their friends, or existing players they can’t roll a second character that is horde to maintain a 1:1 ratio?

reasonable ask

so by that logic can you go to say umm I don’t know, Starbucks and ask for their profit and loss statement per region per state?

Both Blizzard and Starbucks are publicly traded companies, and they do have to make that information available.
Blizzard’s WoW faction balance and BG statistics don’t fall under that :stuck_out_tongue:

ok show me where SBUX and what laws dictate the consumer to have access to all financial records

They will never reveal behind the scenes statistics because it will create an even larger uproar with even the slightest imbalance.

I’m glad they do not, these forums are plagued with enough complaining already.

This is not a fair comparison to the request I’m making. I DO think it would be reasonable to ask Starbucks to provide statistics on how many of each particular menu item is sold per region/state…or what consumer preferences are on flavors, etc. by region/state.

There are MMOs out there which have provided plenty of statistics about their games, including the number of users online at any given time, etc. Blizzard chooses not to do it and has somehow convinced the playerbase that we shouldn’t ask.

Oh, and it doesn’t surprise me that a Horde player would not want to see the statistics. I mean no offense, and it’s not anyone’s fault really (other than perhaps Blizzard’s) …but, it’s pretty obvious that there is a severe faction imbalance right now with significantly more pvp-centric players on Horde side than Alliance.

I can agree with you there , much harder to find good pvp partners Alliance side than horde but on the other hand they seem more longer lasting lol

I really dont care how many players are playing stats what I care is balance in the game and fun factor but also a good population which atm seems to be pretty good for an MMO

look at GW2 what happened to it =(

At least you’ve somehow managed to win more alterac valleys than you’ve lost as Alliance. That’s impressive luck! A lot of Alliance really struggle getting AV wins.

While I support merging queue capabilities for factions(if they do away with exclusive racials), I don’t understand why Alliance players make this argument constantly.

Pay for a faction change if you’re unhappy. You can’t force people to ‘not play’ Horde.

I mean even if i was alliance I wouldn’t really care to see the statistics either.

The fact of the matter is that blizzard answers to its shareholders/parent companies who make the ultimate decisions. They wouldn’t be allowed to make a decision that could potentially negatively impact their revenue stream.

Yes, exactly.

Probably the same reason they stopped reporting sub numbers - too many people would bring it up/make an issue out of it.

Alliance players already complain a lot as it is, if Blizzard were to come out with “official” numbers it would be even worse.

This is the problem with the WoW playerbase. Always blaming themselves and not the people who create the game for it’s problems. Yet they wonder just why the game is so bad??

Finally some reason and logic, good on you!

You haven’t done this already? I do this with every business I use. Well, except for the drug guys down at the corner. They don’t like talking about that stuff.

I mean, if the official numbers are bad, they’d sort of have a reason to complain. Complaining over anecdotal evidence is usually worthless, but if there’s an actual massive imbalance we can’t see, it’d be warranted then.

Granted, most people complain to complain. Not to try and make things better. They can’t provide feedback and suggestions at all and just cry.

Cos it would end up being something stupid like 51-49 in which case you’ll be hit with about 873 "Git Gud"s

You hit the nail on the head, most people complain to complain and blizzard knows this.

They probably don’t want the remaining Alliance PvPers to flee. Or exacerbate the faction imbalance when new players see the official numbers and then avoid the losing faction.

Ion has already said they are well aware of the faction imbalance. They still don’t have an solution.

What you are asking for is only going to pour gasoline on the faction imbalance fire. You think the Alliance is a ghost town now? Throwing out hard numbers like that would cause a mass exodus.
