I’m so bad at shadow that even in 638 it took me like 7 minutes lol. At least I got it done, I suppose.
I was able to get him down today at ilvl 604. It was a super ugly kill that took 10 mins because I let him get off 2 heals…
But I am surprised how effective UH DK is at this fight. I assumed it would be one of the more challenging ones due to limited mobility… but the damage makes up for it, I guess.
Ey, good job getting him down
Gotta say, after you had told me about Vanish removing Spittle, decided to kill him again. Even though I had died only once the fight went WAY smoother compared to my previous kill lol.
Kinda disappointed I didn’t know Vanish could counter the snare.
Glad it was helpful. I have not gotten him down on my rogue. I haven’t really tried much. It’s such a different fight… and I’m a really bad rogue. I guess I should try that one next rather than level a new char…
Very
If you do, don’t pop vanish when Brann is unconscious or it’ll despawn the encounter, CoS is the last resort in that situation.
when did you do it is the question, they nerf’d Branns dps and tanking ability so he is only good as a healer now
Was after the many brann nerfs and the 1 zekvir nerf where it turned out he was only killable cuz brann was broken
I finally downed ?? Zek this morning as Resto Druid, Brann set to DPS. It only took 121 attempts
I think up until try #70 or so, Brann was sitting at level 33. I’d pull aggro quite a bit. I don’t know what his max level is, but I thought it might help to level him a little bit?
I got him to 35 and just figured, why not, try some more. Now, he was holding aggro way more.
Honestly, the one mechanic that kept screwing me up was in phase 2, the big Claw cone mechanic. Man, sometimes it was just aimed at the worst time and at the worst distance.
Getting the eggs down was tough, too. Honestly, a hit or miss, depending on if Brann decided to help out with the eggs or not.
It’s tough! But it’s doable. Was really fun doing it as a healer spec too.
I dunno how you did it with brann tanking. You generally want zek real close to you, and if you don’t have agro, you have no control over his positioning.
Resto druid is the first class I did it on. It was tough and I had to change my spec and gear for more damage. At ilvl 622 now, I can comfortably dump all my cooldowns into zek and try to kill him fast (I’m still a resto druid, so it’s not that fast) which is much more fun than the first time.
You really don’t need to do it as blood, I would go with a DPS spec. Eating the egg fast is paramount. Yeah his white hits hurt, but the HoT from Brann’s potions cancels them out and then some. You shouldn’t need defensives except for the odd bad luck placement where you need to run a bit to pick them up.
You just need to be Tahonto.
Oh wow - I forgot I had posted this >.< It was back in Sept 2024 >.<
I ended up getting him down with a Ret Paladin (this toon actually). The fight was crazy simplified being ret. I’m also much more familiar with paladin than DK. But was forcing myself to learn DK, which I never really ended up using much this season other than for professions. >.>
Save burst windows for the eggs, cycle defensives, have Brann as a Healer to be safe, BoF off the poison dot on you and Brann, avoid bad, and then kill boss.
I have a friend who did it with Shadow Priest as well, and similar story. Just make sure to have the Fade talent which drops off snares and all that.
The only tip you need is to make a Ret Paladin. I got mine up to 611 iLvl and killed Zekvir in less than an hour after struggling on my main, a 619 Fury Warrior. You might even be able to do it at a lower iLvl but it’s pretty easy to get up to 610 or higher just through Siren Isle, delves and other welfare loot the game gives you like the cache from Plunderstorm.
