20% chance to do a hand stand after doing 2 backflips and for 20 seconds after. This will also enable for 8 seconds a debuff that lasts for 3 secs.
Remember when you pressed a button, it did an action. And you had a global to do another action. It did not require addons to manage timing and resources. You didn’t have to have a mod playing the game for you?
The entire hero system is junk and bloat blizzard. This will not be met with any kind of enthusiasm. Devs, have a set and stand up to whoever is pushing these dumb ideas.
I mean to be fair it’s not the same people. WoW has just been out for so long and went through so many different phases that it now has too many populations of players that got into the game for different reasons during different phases of the game and therefore have contrasting views of direction. So now no matter what change the game makes, someone is going to be unhappy.
Really hoping I don’t have any frost or fire effects during my rotation. They just fixed Shifting Power (ofc it still does nature damage for some reason). I’m fine with popping off fire and frost spells for specific effects (nova, blast wave, etc.) but I would prefer a pure Arcane rotation.
Tbh instead of hero talents, I think revamping and bringing back the glyph system to increase class/spec customization and fantasy would have been awesome. Want a pure arcane blast mage? heres all the glyphs to skin your spells to do that! Want your dark range hunter with shadow beasts and dark arrows? Heres all the glyphs to look just like that!
Doing nothing is usually not an option. Making more talents in a new tree is just terrible. Luckily, I will get to share these opinions throughout the beta. But, getting in early on this bloat seems to be necessary. I really don’t think people want more buttons, more timers, more talents. If they were doing hero classes, make a hero class. Something to be proud of.
I dont think a lot of people will share your enthusiasm. It is actually bad when the main feature of the expansion is going to be a turn off for many. Less and better quality is more. In short, your right, it is a cool opinion, bro. I just feel so edgy saying that.
A lot of the stuff there feels like “we have to do something” instead of just overhauling the long trees we got that have a lot of dead spots.
They should’ve given us a perma pit lord, huge missed opportunity, much like rehashing a crappy horse as the lock mount in Legion (could’ve been so many crazy ideas, but no, let’s go bland and boring).
Yes, I also remember not being able to complete regular dungeons even with 5 people in the appropriate composition.
What would you prefer the talents to be like? Just damage/stat increases? I’m sure that will get everyone super excited.
They’re never gonna be able to please everyone, but they can still take in and consider feedback. Simply calling it “junk and bloat” is feedback, but doesn’t address what problem you have with it exactly. A lot of them are passives, which means you don’t have to worry about new buttons to keybind. Yes, you’ll have more buffs to track, but I rather that than more buttons or a bunch of “your does x% increased damage/healing.”
Yes, either quality of life, defenses or buffing the talents I like to use. I don’t like using every talent, as some are boring. I like the “Option” to buff my playstyle. I don’t want to play the game blizzard’s way by having to stand on my head before jumping and lining up 5 different pots and cooldowns.
The trees themselves ARE the issues. They are a tree on top of a talent tree. Vanilla, you changed your character by assigning the type of skills you wanted to use. Now, blizzard chooses your playstyle, then you get a tree, and now another tree. You are not a hero, you are a victim of bloated action bars and mods.
You have no idea if this is going to turn people away from the game or not, and you have no way of knowing if people do or don’t share enthusiasm for Hero Talents.
Most of the Hero Talent stuff is basically just free procs/extra things happening from what you normally do.
Re, from today’s showings:
Elune’s Chosen- Literally entirely passive benefits/passive modifications to existing spells for both specs. The only noteworthy change to anything about how either spec plays is basically enabling full-Lunar Balance with one talent. That’s it.
Wildstalker- Literally all passive. There is no playing around how this set of talents works, they just do their thing while you play the way you were already going to be playing.
Scalecommander- Some cooldown reduction, making existing Essence spenders cleave for free after you use Empowers. While it changes a lot under the hood, it’s pretty simplistic from a gameplay perspective.
Herald of the Sun- Tracking a buff/debuff that happens when you cast abilities you were already going to be casting. Some neat extra effects related to cooldowns that are also entirely passive.
Templar- Eye of Tyr and Wake of Ashes both get to be pressed 1-2 extra times, every other effect in this tree is passive in consideration (altering Holy Power flow flow a bit).
Trickster- You press Feint for more than strictly defensive reasons. You maybe press Distract for offensive reasons which is otherwise an almost entirely niche, unused spell.
Diabolist- Literally everything in this tree just revolves around an entirely passive effect that cycles naturally as you execute your rotation.
Colossus- Adds an extra 45s cooldown for AoE, which is nice for both Arms and Prot. Incentivizes Shockwave slightly.
I dunno man I really like the synergy that doing 2 backflips grants if we handstand for 8 seconds. It makes doing those free 200% movement speed cartwheels feel AMAZING.
