Spellslinger. What IS a spellslinger? Nothing. It’s nothing.
A Frost/Arcane hero spec rooted in Ley Lines which are tied to the Blue Dragonflight (you know, Frost) and carry Arcane magic would have been way better. There’s Ley Guardian Eregos in lore, Ley Walkers in WoW: The RPG. There’s opportunities there.
Then it’s talents? Splinter this, splinter that. Splinter, splinter, splinter. I just don’t see how anyone could find joy in that hero spec.
FWIW I don’t play mage, this hero spec just really seems like a giant whiff.

I can’t take any of the shaman trees seriously because they all sound like the class designers couldn’t be bothered to come up with anything for them that sounds powerful and not generic, which is par for the course for shamans at this point.
Oracle priest is the one I can’t take seriously. Tells the future as a side gig to playing 
Eh, I pick all the passives and then forget the system exists.
What kind of bothers me is that the themes are ingrained into them, often in a way you can’t ignore.
Looking to combine Beast Mastery and Marksmen? Hope you always wanted to SUMMON GHOST DOGS. I get that they wanted a “Dark Ranger” build to keep folks happy, but that one’s a little specific, isn’t it? Maybe you just wanted to shoot while your pet tanks?

Shado-Pan monks. Because Shado-Pan aren’t just monks. Like it would’ve taken a dev 3 seconds to port over to any of the Shado-Pan areas and go “Oh yeah they have all kinds of vocations in the Shado-Pan, maybe calling monks Shado-Pan is stupid”
Actually it would’ve taken them 3 seconds to just wiki Shado-Pan and realize that Monks who are in the Shado-Pan are called Blackguards (as well as warriors) and priests/mages are Omnia and hunters, rogues etc are Wu Kao

Aldrachi Reaver, building stuff around Throw Glaive for a melee class is absolutely hilarious. Imagine this: A demon hunter is 1 foot infront of you whacking you and suddenly they throw their glave at you somehow? How did they even manage to “throw” it? There shouldn’t even be any inertia or power gain because the throw quite literally stopped as soon as it started because you’re right in-front of them. And somehow it bounces back and the DH catches it and suddenly they are doing a ton more damage to you. It’s just really weird.
There’s a fair chance that they expand hero talent to cover more stuff, but yeah a lot of them are really really specific.

Imo, the Hunter ones are especially a flop.
Dark Ranger only fits for like two races, and feels weird for everyone else.
And Pack Leader/Sentinel basically don’t change anything at all, you’re not more/less of a Hunter for being one of those options.
There’s very few of these that feel like an addition to the class.

this is such an oddly specific knitpick but i dont like how the names of the hero specs are a mix of nouns/titles/adjectives
i havent looked much at the trees except hunter and priest, the hunter trees are not exactly exciting

Gotta be honest, I don’t see the issue with that one. I mean you’re on a tauren paladin. You know they’re called Sunwalkers, right? Their whole thing is sun worship. The name also has connections for blood elf paladins who revere and draw power from the sunwell.

Isn’t Pack Leader just… BM? Also, I feel like Hunters drew the short stick in general. While Pack Leader is just boring, Dark Ranger and Sentinel are both very specific fantasies and Elf leaning. Why the hell would a living Draenei decide to become a necromancer-lite for instance?
