Heritage Armor Speculation

I’ve thinking about the future heritage armors and what the quest chains will be about. Here is my current working theories.

Orcs: Focused on the definition of honor, working with Thrall to meet up and/or reflect on past figures on orc history.

Darkspear: Helping Rokhan with honoring the loa, passing different tests like in the First Home from The Judgement story. I definitely see Loa!Vol’jin as apart of this, with Rokhan becoming his first official known worshipper.

Forsaken: I actually have two thoughts on this.

Scenario 1: Voss discovers evidence within the Forsaken of hidden Banshee loyalists among the ranks and works to expose and remove them, as a sign of the Forsaken choosing forward the future of the past. Furthermore in an unexpected twist, Voss is confronted by one her allies, either Dark Ranger Velonara or Belmont, over her steward attitude and the rumors of grooming Calia as their future leader, an action that is revealed to not be supported among the greater Forsaken.

Voss is thus forced to confront that her steward attitude isn’t helping and she needs to either commit or pass leadership to someone her people would respect.

Scenario 2: Calia works to get to understand the Forsaken people, starting with the player, who subsequently becomes her guard. Along the way she discusses Lordaeron, her hopes for the future, only for one meeting to turn into a trap by either Banshee Loyalists or Scarlet Brotherhood. She then spearheads the fight against them, as a way to show case that she’s willing to fight for her people.

Pandaren: Aiding Ji and Aysa in dealing with shenanigans on the Wondering Isle or showing how the Pandaren people from both Pandaria and the Isle have united as one since the Legion’s fall.

Human: Political intrigue with Shaw investigating the House of Nobles, discovering hidden treachery within.

Draenei: Join Velen in returning to Argus, Outland, and Azeroth as he reflects on the past and future, while also dealing with Jaraxxus who seeks to continue Kil’jaeden’s mission against the Draenei.

Night Elf: Protecting Mount Hyjal from a Scourge/Mawsworn attack.

What do you guys think? And what theories do you all have?

My hope is that each of the heritage chains to come will advance the lore and provide a sort of ground zero for each race. Give them a status quo that can be used as a baseline, as opposed to a brief side-arc, maybe tossing in some new historical lore as well.

The best of the heritage chains so far was for sure the Blood Elf one, in terms of content, but like the rest of them fell into the trap of not really giving an idea of where certain things stand for the race. None of them showed us a sense of “this is how things are for a given race now”, which I feel was a missed opportunity.

The only one that didn’t do this and established a status quo for the race was… the goblin one, while the worgen counterpart didn’t even give much of an update on Gilneas.

Still kind of salty over the Gnome and Worgen ones. Both races have practically the same racial story that centers around reclaiming their home for over a decade, now. But, instead of using these fancy new race-specific questlines to resolve them, we get:

Gnome: “Do you like planes? Also, surprise Thermaplugg-second-in-command-from-nowhere!”

Worgen: “Have we reminded you lately how much being a Worgen sucks, and how we’re just waiting around for the race to die out?”

I’d rather see the Night Elf heritage armor focus on the Night Elves rebuilding and building a future.

Show that Ashenvale is back in the hands of the Night Elves, perhaps give us a few quests where we kill Horde forces in there. Show us civilians rebuilding. Show us also how they are settling in Hyjal and building a new city there. Perhaps even show us Elune reviving all the dead Night Elf souls from Ardenweald.

That would feel good for once in a while. But that said I don’t even know if there’ll be more heritage armor sets in the first place. And I think it’s probably way too much to expect from Blizzard.

I kinda didn’t want them resolved in the heritage quest. If/when they are resolved I want them to actually be a big part of the Alliance lore. Meaning the entire Alliance helps them retake their city à la operation Gnomeragan.

If/when they come I’m expecting them to be a slap in the face.

There should be a crazy amount of Sylvanas support even post Shadowlands. No olive branch means you will have rebel groups forming which isn’t so great for a race that cannot reproduce.

I would focus more on learning how to properly use necromancy and move on from the reliance of the Val’kyr.

Personally, since it’s likely the Draenei Heritage Armor quest will land in Shadowlands, I’d like to see the souls left in Auchindoun addressed - possibly to see them migrate to a proper afterlife since Outland is decaying.

I just expect heritage questlines that involve heroes of the past to go the route of

Altough I sure would love a questline for the orcs or whomsoever else there might be left that explores where their fallen Heroes/Villains may have gone, that would be rather interesting. Like surely none of the Famous orcish warlords went to the maw, maybe some went to Revendreth, and others then went to maldraxxus

Odd enough is that was not how it was planned.

The part about the worgen is simply untrue, it was more or less Character development for Tess plus the additional “Worgen curse is still a curse” And its about the struggle.

If the Orc one is during the Shadowlands I would imagine Thrall asking the player to come with him to Revendreath in order to gain reflection on the where the Orcs have to go in the future by speaking with those from the past doing penance.

After fighting Denathrius loyalists and other threats to get to souls like Malkorok, Kilrogg Deadeye and Kargath Bladefist, Thrall gains more insight on what both honor and glory meant for them and begins to gain an understanding of what it has to mean for the Orcs going forward.

It would culminate in meeting the Accuser before Garrosh in chains, Denathrius and his followers had been draining Garrosh of anima for years without a single attempt to absolve him and the Accuser believes that there is now no way to absolve Garrosh with what little he has left and begins the judgement to cast his soul into the Maw. Trying to keep the Jailer from getting stronger and to atone for his part in these events Thrall stops the judgement by challenging Garrosh’s soul to Mok’gora offering Garrosh either revenge or some final bit of honor at the end of his existence. The Accuser while hesitant at first sees Thrall’s reasoning and allows it on the condition that the player as Thrall’s second destroy any manifestations of Garrosh’s sins that may appear during the duel. Thrall chooses to forgo calling on the elements in this fight and ultimately slays Garrosh’s soul releasing the last of his anima and is content that Grommash’s son had met his final end with honor. Thrall then makes the player the first of a new Orcish honor guard granting them the heritage armor.

Don’t you think it would be low-key unpleasant for orc fans to have their fav race quest revolve solely around WoW purgatory and how “sinful” their people have been?

Honestly sounds like a pretty downer experience.

As if Orc needed further lorerape after the destruction of Garrosh’s character.

Good point, mix it up by throwing quests in Bastion and Maldraxxus in the mix, but I really want that Mok’gora with Garrosh at the end.

At least spell it correctly

The idea of Thrall extinguishing Garrosh’s soul seems pretty uncomfortable to me, given that it all came about because of Thrall enabling Garrosh to become that way in the first place. The duel in WoD was awkward enough for that reason without introducing spiritual permadeath to the mix.

Also, while I myself have only finished Belf and Worgen heritage sets out all core races, I think it’s a good rule to stay around zones that are most heavily associated with those races.

Which is why I don’t like the idea of hanging around Shadowlands to see dead people. For any of the races.

Orcs can go to Outland, maybe even stopping by Durnholde.

Nelfs can have flashbacks to the Azshara rebellion, finishing neatly in Nordrassil, where they start their new capital.

Etc.

Yes exactly, besides from that the venthyr are not about “Extinguishing” souls, they are about redemption not straight up “justice”
