Here we go again

Oh, no no no, I have been detox’d for quite awhile now. The end of WoD with those class changed to Ret and through legion and BFA, I am as clear headed as I have ever been,

That’s why I said what I said.
The solution he and others suggest is not viable.
Its not that kind of system.
These abilities are WAY too core to the theme of the zones and expansion to just be switched on the fly.

So they need to redesign the entire system to make it work.
And that will not happen in the next 6 months, knowing Blizzard.

Meaning the system we get at launch will likely be completely changed in 9.1.

Maybe they should have learned from the last expansions and quit putting in systems like this? If it had all been the same abilities but with different looks based on the covenant, that would solve so much but when you throw different abilities with different number values, there will always be winners and losers and blizzard keeps making systems where players have to choose to be the winner or loser, even if the choice feels terrible.

I agree with that actually.

Alright, but we literally just got told what the Covenant abilities are. And we can already compare them to the other ones and obviously conclude certain ones are better than others for certain forms of content.

For example, Demon Hunter’s Night Fae Ability is very PvP-Oriented. While the others are Multi-Target and Single-Target. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that this will essentially shoe-horn someone into one single form of content and make them underperform in another. That’s not fun. That’s not rewarding. That’s just flawed.

You obviously didn’t read Asmongold’s post. Let me ask you, do you have the right Azerite Traits for your class? Do you pursue certain stats that are good for your class? I’d wager you might.

This is the exact same situation. People are going to want to perform to the best when they can.

That’s like having two fury warriors compete in dps but taking Recklessness away from one.

Yeah, but we’re forgetting other major portion that’s getting screwed over by this system. There’s no reason to have these negatives that you have acknowledged, rather than all positives.

Well we were right last time…

Look at what you have said prior. I’m not calling you a shill, I do not believe you to be a shill. You love the game, I love it too. Heck, one of my life goals is to one day work for Blizzard.

I love their games and worlds so much, and I cannot understate how much Blizzard as a whole has done for me. But you have to look at how you present yourself. Perspective matters, and the way you are showing yourself can be perceived in certain ways that you see unfavorable.

Nope, don’t care. Keep it as is Blizzard. If I join a covenant I want to show it. Unique skill, mog and mounts. RPGs should have choices and trade offs. Otherwise you end up with FFXIV where nothing matters and you never have to make any choices.

Metrohaha?

  • Non of us asked for this Azerite Gear garbage
  • Non of us asked for MORE STUNS/CCs in this game
  • Non of us asked for massive pruning of classes
  • Non of us asked for Healers/Tanks to be OP in PVP
  • Non of us asked for a New WoW game every Expansion (we wanted content)
  • Non of us asked for the Legion Weapon System to be taken away
  • Non of us asked for complete redesign of the game every expansion
  • Non of us asked for for Classic feel and play style to go away
  • Non of us asked for for the Talent system to go away
  • Non of us asked for our classes to change to the point of stupidity

I can go on for years, but why bother ? Devs/Designers don’t listen, they do what t hey want without thinking “oh it works, let’s not change it”

So no, we didn’t ask for a lot of this gabage these devs/designers keep tossing into the game.

STOP TRYING TO MAKE WORLD OF A WARCRAFT A DIFFERENT GAME EVERY XPACK! IT WORKED IN CLASSIC THROUGH WRATH, WTF WOULD YOU DESTROY IT ?

Common sense died in 2009 when we sold off to Hackavision.

I hear that game is doing quite well with their lack of choices. I have been playing it this week actually. It has server queues. Impressive for a game that has no choices.

Systems like what? This is the first time there has EVER been something like this in the game.
Something where the power and value of it is apparently so intense, that people can say they will be beyond imbalanced before they are all even in the game and testable.

What needs to happen is people need to realize that there is no winners and losers in this situation.
You are only a winner if you compete at the highest level and need every point of potential to win a race against your competition.

Everyone else will gain more DPS by improving as individuals than these things will likely provide, yet that seems like an unfathomable situation.

Even corruption has the same nonsense happening.
People rail on specific corruptions all the time but if you look at the top logs on any given fight there are people running all different set ups and doing 10x more than I could ever imagine doing.

The game just isn’t this tightly balanced that you should EVER be worried about a decision like this.
You and I are just not that good at the game for it to matter.

overall, they need to change it BEFORE live

People have pointed out many solution. One simple is to not lock those abilities.

If it smells like poop and it looks like poop would you like to taste it?

Well then there is no way the people that dislike it are gonna like it then right? So is this just gonna be like essences not being account wide and them sticking to their guns until they realise their mistake?

It’s a shame that people expect Blizzard to do a great game when all they can do is release an ok one. If we get another BFA, which is why people will insist way more than before on feedback, wow may never recover from it. And they do this feedback because they like wow.

Again that would be more because Blizzard is forcing a system down our throat that we mostly don’t like, like azerith gear.

It’s also not just an influencer thing. Most point Asmon brings, I saw someone else saying the same thing before Asmon posted this. I get it people prefer to blame influencer over blaming the product, it’s easier that way. But it doesn’t make the game better still.

Stop this. It’s a pain to navigate to. Surround URLS in grave accents and it won’t block you.

I mean, you’re wrong because you said that “Covenants wouldn’t work in a talent tree” which is so far off base it’s hilarious. In what way would they not work? Because the “Tough decision” is gone from selecting your covenant?

If so - Wouldn’t choosing that covenant and experiencing their story, getting their transmog hold at least a LITTLE weight there too? Especially when Blizzard’s really been pushing this “We care about the story” stuff?

They do, that’s the problem I am talking about here.

And make no mistake.
Everyone did ask for this, when the rampant complaints about raid logging and lack of character progression dominated this forum during WoD.

People got exactly what they asked for.
Then they asked for less RNG and more “agency.”

Now they are getting that too, and look what’s happening.
Its just really sad, because I love these systems, but if they are going to launch in a state where people who don’t enjoy the game can just nit pick at them and force changes, it makes it REALLY hard to want to explore them at launch.

No, they listen once their subs drop off a cliff. There is a difference.

Know what makes them really hard to explore, though?

Them being locked behind other covenants that I’m not allowed to access without extreme penalty.

systems should have never been introduced.

should have been the dungeons, the raids, the pvp. get gear. get good. no bs artificial gates of power

Because the ability is literally harnessing the power of the covenant you have chosen.
It LOOKS the part, and in some cases, it even does things that are directly tied to the covenant, like the one we have seen for the Kyrian.

We’ve all been screaming it from the rooftops for half a decade. Blizzard doesn’t care. They don’t think their content is good enough without gimmicky rental power systems to keep people subbed anymore.
