Here we go again

Well that is CERTAINLY not changing.

Actually, ya never know.

I’m sure with enough influencers complaining we can have all four covenants account wide before 10.0!

“People” (I.e. the extremely vocal minority here on the forums) need to stop worrying about playing ‘optimally’ and just enjoy the game.

That 1% extra performance you might get out of picking something you dont want to use is not worth the cost of your enjoyment. This is a game, it is entertainment, it is not a job or a competition.

Do you have issues with influencers? Is their messages automatically supposed to be ignored because they have a large audience?

influencers. honestly i love them. they have the power to shape how this game turns out. just look how classic coverage has made the dev team shape shadowlands in a way reminiscent of classic

Oh no need to worry about that - When this system launches it’ll ensure they’ll need to make some SERIOUS changes before 9.1.5 even drops. Maybe they’ll even add in some tumbleweeds blowing around empty capital cities.

They aren’t racials. It won’t be 1%. You will almost assuredly be choosing between abilities (covenants) with different points of strength. We wouldn’t even be talking about this if the abilities were just reskins of each other to match the covenant’s themes.

The single target ability is going to be hot garbage when you want to run Mythic+. They pure AoE ability is going to be hot garbage in many raid encounters or PvP. It’s not going to be 1%.

Yeah I agree, especially with Ions periodic rants against players “obsessed with simming.” A lot of players want to be as good as they can and so of course there is going to emerge a “best” covenant to choose, when they should just be cosmetic fun. Make all the covenants have the same ability choices and let players choose from there in my opinion. I know a lot of folks might think it will take away from the flavor but the balancing nightmare they are proposing for themselves is all too clear.

I mean, I didnt think it was that hard to understand but some people sure do seem to be overlooking this.

if the goal is min/max, probably best to go with the aoe ability. like you said, it will be good in mythic+, but we also know quite a few raid bosses have some sort of cleave or bonus adds.

we dont want this to be another case of “itll be fixed in pre patch… i mean in launch… i mean 9.1… i mean… 9.1.5…”

It makes so much more sense to do this if they have to go this route. If you want the flavor of the covenant, make the abilities LOOK like it represents the covenant.

this and class themed hearthstone animations pls

Then pick what you’re most interested in and stick with it. You dont have to be the best at every part of the game, and the sooner you stop trying to be the sooner you might actually be able to have a little FUN instead of turning this into world of workcraft.

Make a decision and own it.

And “people” really need to stop with that excuse. Last time people said “vocal minority” was back in Battle for Azeroth’s testing period in regards to the various systems like Warfronts, Islands, and Azerite.

Please stop with that. Pretty much every single place of discussion for WoW is up in arms over this. YouTube, Reddit, MMO-Champion, Wowhead, etc…

The “Silent Majority” are always silent and never seem to speak up. I wonder why. It’s almost like you are the minority.

Do you realize what kind of game you are playing? This is an MMORPG. The goal is to perform as best you can. It’s why you collect gear, get Essences, pick the right Azerite Traits, get the right stats, bring the right food to raids, etc…

This isn’t hard to see. And don’t you dare tell other people how to enjoy a product they pay monthly for.

And a game loses its fun factor when it’s no longer fun, as you’re being forced to pick a covenant you don’t like for their abilities. Who would’ve guessed.

Absolutely. I feel like they might be in a mindset where they need to do something huge for Shadowlands to make up for BfA – which isn’t entirely wrong – but honestly just make my Kyrian fire ball look different than the Night Fae fire ball and I’m good man.

Why do we have to pick? We have never had to pick anything in the past. We played the game! Now, everything is forced. We have no player choice anymore. Now you are saying pick something and just do it. Wow, great way to play the game. Hopefully you aren’t on the board of Activision with that mind set.

please remember , we have a chance finally to give a s… and tell the devs to fix their damn s… before even a beta!

Less is so so so much more in WoW these days.

That would be fine if this were a single player RPG.

It is not.

This is one of the selling points of the expansions, which means the performance impact won’t be negligible. Pug leaders are ABSOLUTELY going to be inspecting people to make sure they’re not inviting people with the “wrong” ability. Just like they used to with cookie cutter talent trees.

If Blizzard wants to make choices matter, do it across the board. Force people to stick to their talents, force groups to make comps based around what people have chosen in addition to whatever class comp they want. Make the game a nightmare to play without research.

Or we could just make these new abilities function like talents and fall in line with everything else. Because that makes way more sense.

If they want some weight attached to covenants, let us progress all of them, but one at a time like unlocking Legion Artifacts. Once you progress them to a certain point you unlock their ability on a new talent row with 4 options. Make us go to that covenant’s hub to toggle representation. Representing the covenant activates their ability.

I like Asmon but he’s good for meme quality.

Claims that the game has been bad/broken since WoTLK/MoP/WoD but still stay subbed for a decade or 1/2 a decade. Not big on your hate kink but you do you boo.
