yeah back when they tried to get rid of flight in WoD Watcher went and made the announcement to a 3rd party gaming site on a holiday weekend in hopes of slipping it in under the radar so players wouldn’t know anything about it until it was too late
his plan was most likely to use the lack of knowledge of the announcement as a sign of support for no flight then he would go hey look they all approve it but the back lash hit him like a tsunami and the company had to do something to stop the bleeding of subs
of course when the fertilizer hit the air machine in pure corporate fashion it WASNT their fault the blame was clearly on the players and our lack of understanding that we were having fun wrong
At least dailies were quiet and they didn’t force a quest on you. I didn’t have to hear every time I log on:
“SOMETHING HAS SPOOKED ONE OF THE BRUTOSAURS, SENDING IT INTO A PANIC! BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH GET THE PACKAGES BEFORE YOU’E STOMPED TO DEATH.”
-or-
“PROTECTING ZULDAZAR IS OUR TOP PRIORITY! SOMETHING SOMETHING PUSH THEM BACK TO THEIR BOATS.”
I want to go back to ignoring quests when I don’t feel like doing them and not have some stupid freaking chatbox pop up on my screen that repeats itself no matter what zone you’re in or what quests you’re doing.
Who’s hating on everything new? I like M+, Transmog, Mythic raids, Mage tower, Challenge modes. A good chunk of Blizzard’s content ideas have been crappy to me. If someone else finds them fun then great. I sure don’t.
Or Blizzard could go back to doing dailies. It’s so stupid to have some “voice of god” pop out of no where to tell you to kill something. What is Princess Talanji doing in Stormsong Valley? How is she talking to me from across the ocean?
This is what makes sense:
NPC: “Hey you. See that yeti over there? He killed my brother. DESTROY HIM!”
Me: “Ok Mr. DailyNPC.”
NPC: “Thank you. Here’s your 75 rep and 19g.”
yeah until Blizzard breaks it for being counter productive to game play like they did with the group finder addon
they claimed it was causing sharding issues when the truth was too many players were using it to do more WQs faster thus decreasing the time played metric due to players getting more done in less time and it reflected badly on their measurement of it hence they had to do something to make WQs take longer again
I especially hate hearing these ones when my toon/s no longer benefit from doing these.
Now if they had scaled the gear to level up to where you get get an upgrade like you can in some cases with normal WQs then yes it wouldn’t be so annoying.
The time metric is a meme and doesn’t work like that though. Is not about how many minutes, it’s about if you play at least once per billing cycle. That’s why it’s Monthly active users, not minute active users.
But yeah they broke the world quests for some BS for sure because they even broke their internal group finder which worked just fine. Seemingly they did it so people didn’t AFK quests but it’s still dumb.
There’s 100s of WQ with tons of different rewards and commitment level, there were like 10 types of dailies that all gave 16g and 25s, doing those over and over and over and going back and forth to the questgiver isn’t fun either.
Also I just enjoy randomly hearing Taelia or Lucille’s sexy voice randomly through the world ¯_(ツ)_/¯
That’s easily solved by removing the “circles” that give you the WQ and replacing them with blue exclamation marks, just like they do in Nazjatar. Plus, they rotate what dailies are offered that day. They did just that in MoP.
That way you’re not bothered with Talanji nagging you if you don’t want to talk to her. Or Cromush (whatever the hell is name is) giving you that 0/4 quest when you fly in the zone.
anecdotally I am convinced good gameplay will outperform good stat buffs, gear, etc. I’m not worrying about the different covenant buffs for dps/hps/effective health/etc. Gameplay/clunkiness is more of a concern than throughput for me, but alongside flavor/RP.
