The auto add people is more likely for questing since you don’t really care who is grouping with you to quest, as long as they’re close to you and on the same quest.

as i said, the problem is both work… and the one with auto invites need to be broken so it dosent work… that dosent belong in classic

He basically says they removed these tools (things like LFD/LFR, Group Finder) and that they would be skeptical of addons that “go against the spirit of classic” whatever that means. Basically through the whole thing he’s just explain that they removed their tools because they weren’t part of vanilla, however at no point did he say they would BREAK things that added something. Nor does LFG go against the spirit of vanilla as we had multiple addons that filled that same role.

Any LFG Addon should be banned by blizzard regardless of whether it has automation or not, and here’s why:
The argument against the Automated LFG Addon is straightforward. As people in this thread have already stated, automation goes against the spirit of classic because it removes the effort and time it takes to form a group. Classic is classic largely because of the amount of EFFORT it takes to complete tasks and progress in one’s journey through the world. Forming a dungeon group in Classic means having to take the time to stop and communicate with people as you form a group. The time and effort you spend during this process is the cost we pay to successfully (hopefully) complete a dungeon, which is part of the reason it feels so rewarding to complete dungeons in classic vs something like retail. This is why the community is largely against addons or features that contain automation or, to a lesser extent, Quality Of Life, especially when those features dilute any social aspect of the game.
The argument against Non-Automated LFG Addons is a little more subtle, but still valid in my opinion. Addons like this would use some sort of bulletin style interface, so while people would still have to take some time to manually list themselves and look for others, it would still (theoretically) reduce the time spent looking for a group, as well as reduce one’s effort in that task because you post yourself on the board once and wait for others to pop up, rather than actively engaging the in game chat.
If you still feel like Non-Automated LFG Addons won’t reduce either the time or effort it takes to form a group (which if that was the case why would that addon even exist?) then take into consideration the fact that this addon effectively removes activity from in-game chat, diluting the community feel and making the world feel less active and in the worst case scenario (if the addon becomes extremely popular) even dead.
Classic Development Team, please consider the large impact these addons will have on the social aspect of your game if they become popular.

I think this is what people aren’t understanding, this addon WAS in the game in Vanilla, in the exact incarnation ClassicLFG is right now. Just because people didn’t know it existed, doesn’t mean it wasn’t there and functioning without their knowledge. ClassicLFG wont have autojoin or ilvl features and that makes it exactly how CallToArms functioned in Vanilla.
But this is the weekly panic thread. The doomsayers and pearl-clutchers have a rotation of topics it seems.

Ad hominem much? I’ll humor you though. Notice I said alts? If I logged into my main 2 toons I would be asked into a group almost as fast as I logged in. I sometimes kept alts for when I didn’t want to play with the same people over and over. I kept alts because it allowed me to meet and play with new people. Don’t do much good when no-one in LFD is talking outside of crap like “gogogo” or to berate someone who made a mistake.

Auto-invite should be broken since they don’t even allow addons to do that in Retail anymore.
Haven’t looked into everything this addon does, but the addon from yesterday’s discussions was fine.
Blizzard knows it exists. I don’t think the same ~20 people going in circles is going to change their mind. All you can do is wait and see.
If we strip away all the inconveniences from Classic WoW, will it still remain Classic?
I keep seeing the same recurring comments, “I don’t have 4 hours to spam /trade and put together groups”. Why are you playing Classic anyway and forcing it to be more like Retail? Manually finding people and putting together your own groups were an integral part of early WoW. Classic is for building lasting friendships through the effort you put into forming your own groups. It’s not a single player game to blaze through at breakneck speeds, where you treat other fellow players as nothing more than disposable NPC’s.
“You don’t have to use the addon. It’s completely optional.” Right. Might as well add flying, transmog, etc because, hey, those are optional too. Nevermind that they change the game into something completely different. Something that isn’t Classic.

If it automates any part of the group finding process it should be dragged behind the woodshed by its hair and beaten to death with a rusty shovel.
In less than 10 minutes, Esfand will have the Classic WoW devs on his stream. Very likely this addon gets discussed with them.
Yeah I don’t have anything against steamers. But thier motivations are the same as trolls. They just aquire attention.
This topic is knee jerk. So streamers gravitate to it. Then their audience knee jerks.
It’s just show business (aka politics).

Maybe you should have made friends on those alts then. Or talked in LFD. I made friends in there too and even leveled a toon to max on one of their servers.

The problem still is, that there is a working version WITH autojoin… that needs to be broken…
Having a tool that can automatic check for tank, based on talents, healer based on talents, and then also auto invite three dps… that is extremly bad, that shouldent work in classic…
