See you then, boo! I actually played vanilla. I miss that era of MMOs – asherons call, everquest, ffxi, classic wow, when “massively multiplayer” actually meant something.
And again, you admitted to having no interest in classic. So why do you care that people in classic dont want this functionality?
What “conversation” is “Priest LFG UBRS”? That’s not a conversation, that’s a post on a bulletin board. Big difference. The addon doesn’t change anything.
Using my example of a highly shortened “conversation” is a poor example of an actual conversation within the game, and defense of this addon.
I can understand the appeal of an addon that let’s you queue/list your group, and not have to pay attention to it while it does the work for you. I just don’t think that is in accordance with the sense of community that many of us expect from a version of the game that encourages players to “go out, and do that(explore, interact, etc…)”.
I see your point, that’s why it will be removed all together in an update, It just takes some work to actually implement the new feature, thats why you can disable it for now.
This LFg addon is a guild killer. People won’t think to join guilds or work at common goals, they’ll simply use LFG and we’ll end up with what we do now- a whole slew of individuals not really able to function socially or as a unit. I’ve been bopped on my healer ONCE this expac in BGs. Once. The selfish attitude spreads right across the board and does nothing for one of the Ms in MMO
In all honesty, I don’t see this addon being in classic. It will ruin the very core of the game itself and make people the same selfish gamers we see today, it will encourage ninja looting, douche pulling and all kinds of things that I guess eventually, will make this addon go away. If you think it won’t, mark my words, it will. This is a ninja looters paradise.
It isn’t a poor example though as that is the entirety of the conservation you skip.Literally those 4 possible lines everything else still exists with the addon.
It torpedoes your argument but it isn’t a bad example at all.
Exactly! They were trying to make getting a group easier. And they kept trying to make getting a group easier right up through BfA! And that’s the problem, where does it end? When you say this is ok, you move the goal post. Then people who want a little more convenience push for the next thing, and then the next thing, and so on and so forth. So where do you say this is ok, but this is not? Because even when you say it is enough, someone else is going to disagree and what more. This thread should be evidence of that. And so the only real option is say no to all of it, because the minute you say yes to something that runs counter to what Classic is supposed to be (recapturing the feel of Vanilla), you’ve left yourself open for further compromise that moves you further and further from what the original intent was.

YES exactly! You don’t skip the hard work! You type to invite, raid leaders get known for their hard work to organise groups and people with bad manners get black-listed etc etc etc.
And it makes guilds feel more important, even for casual players! You invest in your actual reputation with people and with your guild mates and leaders so you can achieve goals in groups. etc etc
Give automation and you start the ball rolling downhill into “retail”.
