If you are using wasd for movement bind around that. The default keybinds are that top row, but anything you can’t comfortably reach I’d recommended changing the keybind. For example my bar 1 is 12345qerzxc. All focused around the movement keys where my hand is by default.
The more you need to press a button the easier closer it should be to your movement keys. I’d also recommend only changing a few keybinds at a time and testing them in a dungeon or any normal raid.
In the end it’s all preference the real benefit of not clicking abilities is increased accuracy, increased reaction time, and you don’t have to always know where the mouse is. If you do make changes when looking at raid logs I would check the casts section where it shows uptime to see what percentage your at, this would be the spot I would expect to see improvement from switching.
This. Get one of these. Move by pressing W, holding the right mouse button, strafe with A and S, cast spells/abilities by pressing the 12 buttons on the side of the mouse with your thumb.
Also, as a warrior…you probably need to have heroic strike or cleave queued more.
great suggestions all , and you will find your own style as you go. personally i use only the mouse for movement and bind all the abilities on the left side of the keyboard. I avoid mmo mice because they are too big for my hand. usually for A row , I bind the most spammable abilities, Z row for defensives, Q row for timer abilities or AoE spamming, 1 row for long timer abilities , and of course you can combine that with the shift or control button. moreover if you have multiple alts try to keep similar mapping, same button for interrupts , defensives , healing ets good luck, it’s all about trial and error and being comfortable
Get a mouse with at least 3 additional buttons, bind those buttons to alt/cntrl/shift. Then use 1-4 and any keys you can comfortably reach around wsad. This should net you 30+ keybinds easily when you consider the modifiers on your mouse.
As others have mentioned, also look into SHIFT / CTRL modifier macros. These make it so you can press 1 to use ability X, or hold SHIFT and press 1 to use ability Y, or hold CTRL and press 1 to use ability Z.
This helps you dramatically reduce the amount of icons on your toolbars, and keep your hands closer to that prime real estate of the WASD keys.
I think the basic idea for keybinding is look at your direction keys, so wasd or whatever, and bind around that. I actually use wqes for my movement, so some of my main binds will be a, d, r, f, c, t, v, of course 1-4 or so, z, x, etc. I use the F1-F4 sometimes for cooldowns, and mouse wheel forwards and back. And of course you can modify these with alt, shift, ctrl, etc. Bind your most important skills to the buttons that are easier to press and work from there. If you play multiple characters try to keep abilities that do the same function between classes bound to the same button. So for example I always use c for my interrupts, x will be for a stun, if I play a tank ` is always my taunt. If I play a healer for any class with a dispell or cleanse it goes on mouse wheel forward. Stuff like that.
personally when i’m playing melee i like to dance with q and e so those are off limits for keybinds but every key around them is free real estate for keybinds with ctrl / shift
Thanks all, I’ve started off with bloodlust, whirlwind, heroic strike and cleave on keybinds…feels good I don’t have to watch my taskbar too make sure I click right ability.
God my hand cramps up during cooldown phases hahaha
“If you’re not comfortable using the keyboard quickly, it might be challenging to play a warrior, as this class has many abilities to manage. Everyone has different preferences and playstyles, so it’s important to choose a class that suits your comfort level.”
