It seems I cannot do my modest burst anymore with tbc.
Correct. I believe they fixed the entire spell batching issue from vanilla classic.
If i remember correctly, this was fixed in TBC regardless of spellbatching.
Edit: Patch 2.3 - [Elemental Mastery]: It is no longer possible to get two consecutive guaranteed [critical strikes] from using this ability.
It wasn’t “fixed” it was always intended to work this way, batching just made it possible.
Read elemental mastery tooltip, I’m sure it says “NEXT SPELL” will crit and not “NEXT TWO” spells.
