I have recently returned to World of Warcraft just a few days ago. I accidentally sold two items in the AH: Gut Ripper (for 219g 99s 99c instead of 219,999g) and Pattern: Robe of the Void (for 9,899g 99s 99c instead of 989,999g). I know this is a foolish mistake, however, they were AUTOMATICALLY bought out by the SAME person,<>, immediately. I did not have ANY time to cancel my auction. This is strange because they are very two different items yet were automatically bought out as soon as they were posted. This does not make any sense to me. Please help me in dealing with this situation.
Reach out to them and ask if they’ll sell them back. You cannot definitively prove that they’re botting, and there are addons that easily mimic such behavior but still require user interaction.
But bear in mind that they may not assist, because everything was fair.
Fraid there isn’t anything to do, Felsu. They sold for the price you listed.
There are perfectly legal addons that scan for really good deals, that itself is no indication of a bot.
So they’re are addons that automatically place bids on items? How is this fair. AS SOON as they were posted there was already a buyout on my items. I’ve checked the armory, there is no one under Tichfour.
Emphasized the important part:
Basically, what you have described can be done with commonly used auction addons. If you suspect someone is cheating, report them. But ultimately you’ll find no cheating happened. It’s tough mistake to make, mis-pricing items, and many of us have done it too in the past. It would be very rare for Blizzard to get involved in this.
You can emphasize that all you want but to say you can buyout an item the SECOND it’s posted regardless of human interaction or not is absurd speed. Which, I find hard to believe. Not to mention, they are two UNRELATED items. I am not exaggerating when I say it was bought out the moment I put it up.
Means nothing as the armory won’t show characters under level 10.
How can I report a player not listed in the armory?
Either find them in-game and right click - report for cheating, or send information to hacks@blizzard.com
But while you don’t believe it, the auction addons can do exactly that.
I honestly wouldn’t be upset if I had time to change my mistake. BUT I NEVER HAD THE CHANCE TO. it was bought out as soon as I posted it.
The way that add-on works, which I haven’t used in a while, is you basically setup a cutoff, where any item that is underpriced by x amount or percentage, will pop up a window asking if you want to buy it. So as soon as you list it only takes a second until that window is up on their screen and they just click buy.
There really is no need to report them, but if you send an email to that address they’ll check it out, just don’t expect a reply.
No one said without human interaction. The addon finds them and pops up a button, the human then activates the button.
Think of it this way, as soon as you put up an auction, to the very second, it’s available to be brought out - regardless if an addon is used or not and regardless if you made a mistake with the pricing. Once an item is put up on the AH, it’s fair game.
I can’t even reach out to them. I can’t email them. There’s no one under that name in my server. And if that’s the case that armory doesn’t show level ones. He could have already deleted it and made a new character.
Yes, you can. What is stopping you? You have a name, you have item details that put up for auction. Remember, Blizzard can see everything in game.
Because it says no one is under that name. And as someone said, it’s likely a level one character or at least under level ten. So that makes it even more suspicious that it’s no longer active. I have sent an email to hacks@blizzard.com with a picture of the name and auction. So if they do see everything-- whether they want to put in the effort will be a different story.
No.
There are addons that scan the AH and look for things listed well below the average price for the item. The addon then alerts the player. The player then must actually click on the buy button, no automatic buying. No botting.
There are addons that continuously scan the auction house for deals and alert the player when one is found. The player then has to take action to bid on or buy out an auction. There is nothing ‘automatically’ about it.
Put in the effort to do what? No rules have been broken, so there is nothing to punish. You made a mistake, and that sucks I know. Learn from it; double-check your auctions before you post them.
Why would they delete a perfectly legit legal non bottled addon, auction only toon?
There is no reason to delete the toon. It did nothing illegal.
I am very sorry for this extremely costly mistake. I really am. But the buyer did nothing wrong. In the very least.
I understand how upsetting and frustrating this is. But a little honest introspection can help point those emotions in the proper direction.
Hint: The direction is not AH bltting
