HELP! account hacked! please help me get it back!

My account was hacked and I dont know how to get it back. I have gone through the web ticket creation and did receive a call from an 800 number but no one was on the line when i answered. No one is calling back. and i cant put in a new ticket as it tells me that I already have the maximum number open!

First off, deep breathes. Assuming that this just happened, it can indeed be undone.

First things first, figure out how you were compromised. Did you fall for a phishing scam (someone pretending to be Blizz and threatening your account/visit this website etc.) or is your computer compromised?

Run searches for malicious software using something like Malwarebytes.org. Their free version is great too.

Also, make sure they’re not in your e-mail. Once your system is clean and you regain control of the account, consider moving to a new email address like one from Gmail. Add their authenticator for security too.

While on the subject, make sure your WoW account has an authenticator on it too!

As for having reached “the maximum number open”, I can’t say I’ve seen that before. Did you have trouble opening up a ticket to begin with? You only need one and multiples will run you into more trouble than help.

You can check to see what open tickets you have here:

Yup.

Read that already. did all that. apparently I was fighting for control of my account. changed all the passwords and even the email… now account says banned. and no way to login.

I’d be more concerned about making sure your computer is squeaky clean as can be before trying to reclaim your account.

If you fought with the hacker, it means they have more info than most.

btw… they were in my email… and not sure how they removed my authenticator

I would suggest setting up a new email – such as Gmail, that has its own 2-factor authentication - once your computer is cleaned. Then use that new email for nothing but your WoW account and never share the address with anyone but Blizzard.

To be able to get to this level of security, they would have needed a LOT of info.

Clean your PC first. The account can be dealt with later.

Did that. Its a secure account… now just having an issue actually talking to blizz support.

They removed your authenticator because they have enough info on you (likely from a compromised system or falling for a phish) that they were able to ‘pretend’ to be you, provided enough info to Blizz to have it removed.

It’s definitely not good and you absolutely need to secure your system too. Only Blizz can help you with appealing the ban and clearing up the account and that can only be done via a ticket.

Edit: And how many tickets does it show you have open right now? Have you tried Live Chat instead of call back support?

I cant see how many. It wont let me log in to see that… Tried live chat but have to log in for that too

To be clear, what exactly have you done so far? Just saying “did that” and stating that it’s secure doesn’t rule out a compromise on your system. If you had an authenticator on this account, then it would require a hacker providing ID in your name to remove it.

You’re logged into an account right now to post right? Just use that account to put in the ticket for Live Chat too.

did that = earlier today when I first found out i changed almost everything about my account. including the email address. I changed it to a secure account.

Yeah… I dont know why I didnt have to login for these posts… maybe a cookie in the browser?

Here’s the thing, if you did that before securing your computer, you basically just handed the hackers your new info too. That’s why securing your system is so important!

You should still be able to submit a ticket without being logged in too. It requires that you attach your ID so that Blizz can verify your account. I would only recommend doing this from a secure computer.

If you go to the link below and choose “I don’t know my account email”, it should prompt you to attach ID and should give you the option for Live Chat or Call Back support too.

i just got done virus scanning this PC. its clean.

Ill try to open another ticket. but it keeps telling me that i have too many open.

Viruses are one thing, malicious software hides completely differently. Go back to my first reply and use Malwarebytes. Trust me.

It sounds like you need to clear your browser’s cookies and cache too as it’s impeding your ability to put in a ticket.

The best thing to do is log out completely, clear your cookies/cache and then use the link I provided just above to put in a ticket.

Did you do a full scan or just a fast one?

thats what I used. Downloaded and installed. then scanned.

And did it find anything? Did you recently fall for a phishing attempt? I’m not judging at all, just trying to help you find the compromise and secure your computer and account.

Have you followed my other suggestions to clear your cookies and cache, then try the link I provided to submit a ticket without logging in?

Even if it locks you out of the forums, it should still let you reply here in CS.
