I’m not denying boosts are there, people buy tokens for gold etc…
I’m addressing your statement regarding heirlooms.
They were gutted because leveling was already fast now. I’m not as cynical as you and I’m not drinking any kool-aid, I’m just using a tad bit more common sense.
i understand your point of view but sadly it is misplaced
you should never defend a company that tried to min / max profits at the expense of the customer ( something that does not effect the game in a sense of game breaking )
even the smallest change can have huge changes to the player experience
it’s like the cash shop
people got to comfy and even defended that decision , now tokens came into the game
pretty much ruined the economy / boosting now is at a all time high (mythic+/raid/pvp boosting etc)
at the expense of the 15$ a month customer, they are making bank , we gave them an inch they took a mile so to speak
so no you should not defend blizzard in the slightest for heirloom nerf , or next update they will remove the exp set bonus component all together for “some” excuse of benefiting there pockets
we made blizzard famous , remember that my friend
Though I have the gold, I will just buy a token to cover each heirloom armor set
Tbh I believe they never made looms for those slots, because most of the quests rewards you get while leveling are boots, hands, and belts # add boots, hands, and belts to heirloom list! Oh and # put xp back on looms!

Didn’t they used to change the level of the previous rank to something lower then make the sets the same price as the current? This just smells of buy more tokens

I’ll probably level most of mine up (like one set of each) just because I like to keep them current. I only have maybe one other character that’ll actually use them though any time soon. Kind of poor timing considering I just leveled this from 40 a few weeks ago and don’t feel like leveling anything else just now.
Also I already bought a token when it got near 200k so I’m very solvent right now with nothing else that really needs bought.
Another cash shop token motivator
you keep getting quest gear more than just once.
really hard concept to figure out
This is obscene. Pure greed to drive token sales down the road.
Sure you don’t need it now and it’s not worth it now to have heirlooms to 60 when that is the cap, but think about 2 years from now. We’re a year into 10.0, Chromie time has been expanded to level 60, it’s no longer so simple to just re-run SL content and many people now that the expac is over no longer want to.
Or consider 3 years from now, 11.0 is on the horizon, level 80 is just around the corner. The new upgrade cost for the 60+70 heirloom tokens is now 450k per gear type (basically 2 million gold for a single set of each type) to get the last 20 levels before current content. Here is where you see the real p2w type game mechanics to drive token sales out of whales and rubes while making the rest suffer through a less than stellar leveling experience.
Quite simply this needs to be fixed now. If they want to have higher prices while it’s current to punish people using it instead of just leveling that’s fine, but it should be followed by a price drop immediately once 10.0 hits. I think all the heirloom armor should have their prices dropped in fact to be more accessible to newer players and in light of the fact that they removed the XP bonuses so their utility while still good is no longer incredible.
That made to much sense for Blizzard to comprehend
Why necro the topic? lol .It’s 1 year old.

there are fewer heirlooms per set now and timewalking got me upgrades strictly for convenience…
Heirlooms just aren’t worth it anymore. They’re too expensive for the benefit. Far too many upgrades are needed and the set bonuses are awful.
Once they made them equivalent to like greens and provide no exp bonus, i kinda stopped caring about upgrading them.
It’s time to just make Heirlooms cost a normal currency again.
This is the stupidest thing.
Heirlooms aren’t supposed to be a goldsink they’re supposed to be a leveling bonus. THE BONUS ISN’T EVEN THAT GOOD
minus always having gear, which, frankly doesn’t even scale that well and if you’re questing and dungeoning isn’t a huge issue.
Mostly it just lets me keep a consistent transmog as I level.
