they should stop making heirlooms
the prepatch event “combine to make this” should’ve been a unique mount model that will be unobtainable after the prepatch is over.

You did not make any point. You said to accept the money lost. Is that what you would do in real life as a customer victim of false advertisement ?
They were sold to use as making you OP, Blizzard led us to invest money in them telling us they were going to be Blue to Purple equivalent in strength.
Then when we invest in them, they stay that strong for like 2 months and they revert them to between white and green in power
It is straight up false advertising
But they didn’t. I actually saw that ring and thought “SEE?! They are still acknowledged, supported, and part of the game’s ecosystem,” and it felt very validating.
I like the ideas that were brought up about revisiting rest. I think rest as something that can be sought, boosted and accrued faster than “time away” would perhaps be a good compromise from giving back the flat XP bonuses if they don’t want to go that route.
I think there is still a great value to “I went up 20 levels today and my pants are still relevant,” but the prices or the function around heirlooms being “rest-powered” could be revisited.
But again, the game has moved toward deeply incentivizing or at least validating altoholism, and that kind of… lends itself to a game of rest management and alt cycling, you know?
This is, IMO, a solid argument and always has been. Again, I get use out of the existing heirloom design, but I am sympathetic to the gold sink being changed after point of purchase.
It’s also worth pointing out that there IS an XP percentage forthcoming, in the form of the “1-5 alts are already level 80, have a bonus” achievements in TWW.
I have 40 max levelled heirlooms and they’ve been dead for years. I was upset for a bit but in the end…it’s an out dated model with how fast levelling already is. We spent the gold to enjoy them when they were good, and I know I got my golds worth. Is what it is.
That would require them to have some convenience. Right now they arent worth equiping
They should just delete heirlooms honestly. At this point. Give people gold for them. It’s a useless system meow.
Leveling needs to be a joke, no one plays this game to level, we play this game to do endgame content.
Who enjoys playing through zones that are 20 years old ?
I only play this game for the exploration of new zones and the nostalgia of the old zones. I find the endgame to be shallow and repetitive.
Haven’t you explored all zones 65 times now, because that is pretty much my case

They do save a slight amount of gold over the leveling process. Especially if you keep them on for a bit into current content before it becomes absolutely necessary to replace them with quest gear.
I usually keep them on until its overly obvious I am going to have to start using those green drops from quests.
But it shouldnt be like that. They need to have a purpose or why spend the gold for the upgrades at all? WHAT is being upgraded? Ilvl? Who cares at that stage of the game because its made fairly negligible because of scaling anyway.
Im glad we can level so quickly now. It negates the usefulness of Heirlooms, though.
They should either NOT have upgrades at all and heirlooms just scale to an X ilvl cap without paying for upgrades…OR…they need to make them worth the damned gold cost again…maybe 2% extra renown/reputation or something for each heirloom youre wearing.

I think we’re clones, lol.

pretty much. and most current content…BFA and SL…werent even worth exploring. I pretty much ran point A to point B as fast as possible to get and turn in quests just to get thru it on autopilot.
Old content is far more fun, even after the 100th time.
Ask me how many times Ive run the Barrens, Mists Farm/Tiller quests, Duskwood, Felwood, Winterspring, Dustwallow Marsh, etc and will do it 100 more times and enjoy every second of it.
I would go back to the slow vanilla leveling, that experience was the best 1-30.
And then rework heirlooms so the tiers became available based on the number of characters you’ve leveled to max level. All the gear would work from 1 to MaxLevel-10 but the tiers you could get for having fully leveled alts would upgrade the gear to give you increasing XP bonuses.
So the first character is the long hard grind, we all had to do it. Second is much easier, and at some point you can choose to put on heirloom gear with absurd bonuses and level an alt to max-10 in a half hour.
Or chose not to, or chose to use a lower tier set of heirlooms to just make it a little faster. And at any point put on the max tier heirloom and finish things up.
Some, yes. But I’ve skipped a few expansions, so I’ve only been through Legion once, and making my way through DF for the first time rn.
After a long break, I’ll usually revisit some of my favorite zones on a new hero for nostalgia.
Have you just be playing constantly for years?
