Leveling to 70 already only takes a day, the heirlooms are just fine giving consistent good stats that don’t fall behind 30+ levels. Speed is already fine to me since they heavily cut XP required for everyone and not just loom users.
I miss powerful heirlooms as well. It was fun to deck yourself out in full heirlooms and feel like a god in dungeons. Although it’s all backwards now with scaling because lower levels dominate in damage no matter how well you’re geared. It’s all false numbers now. Might as well give everyone stat templates during leveling.

I’m another that spent a lot of gold leveling up hair looms but haven’t used them sense the level squish . the current system is annoying and way over priced for what you get . I think a solution could be every expansion they sell you 1 token that upgrades every single hair loom you own and ever get to that item level for like 25k something like that.

They really need to remove the upgrade system. It’s cumbersome and, now without the XP buffs, virtually useless especially considering the cost.

I’m pretty sure that the initial nerfs happened because of how OP heirloom gear was in low level PVP.
That isn’t what Blizz intended when they added them to the game.
But being overpowered in PVE is fun, especially for our community that play hardcore WOW and need to delete a toon if we don’t reach level 70 without a death.
For that playstyle godly heirloom should make their way make, just make them like they are right now for PVP
I’m not looking for grossly overpowered. But their ilvl relative to gear that drops is horrendously low since prepatch launched. It needs adjusting.

Heirlooms existed to speed up a bloated leveling process.
The leveling process is no longer bloated. It’s ridiculously fast.
I’m sure that’s part of why they took out the exp boosts.
That aside, Heirlooms are roughly level-appropriate greens. The benefit of them isn’t to be OP, it’s to have a level-appropriate set of gear. Normally, people leveling have a mish-mash of gear spanning a 20+ level range, or may be missing certain slots entirely for a long time. Heirlooms ensure you’re always “up to date”. That’s the benefit. You don’t have to worry about gearing. Yes, this means you’ll get dungeon blues that outclass the heirlooms for a few levels before the heirloom catches back up since it’s akin to a green. That’s fine. You’re not wearing them to be OP, you’re wearing them to not have to worry about gear.
I do agree that the price for them is a little absurd these days, but that’s really the only issue with them, and you can always use Holiday Events and DMF and such to get them instead, right?

I think of heirloom cost as pre-paying what I would spend to tmog all the gear I replace while leveling

I don’t need to change your mind. The nerf happened years ago, and what you think about it doesn’t matter.
Instead, you need to change Blizzard’s mind so that they’ll abandon their decision to nerf heirlooms.
I doubt you have a good argument for how allowing players who spend thousands of gold to be substantially stronger in PVP than players who don’t (e.g., new players) would be good for the game.
You didn’t change my mind. Keep trying.
They could just revisit rest exp and how it works, then the heirlooms set bonus could be useful.
- Raise the cap on how much rested exp you can accumulate?
- Raise how fast you gain rested exp?
- Add food/drink to every vendor that lower rest exp consumption while “well fed” from that food.
Could be some simple ways, or they might have a better idea to completely flip rested exp on its head into something more interesting.
I, for one, am just sad. I used to be proud of all the heirlooms that I’d collected and upgraded. Then they overnite made them feel almost useless, and totally overpriced. I haven’t paid to upgrate a single heirloom since the nerf.

I couldn’t believe they added a new heirloom in TWW pre-patch, just to rub it in my face how much I missed having valuable heirlooms.

World crap dies with a brisk wind as it is…and we level fast enough without more XP.
Maybe a reputation/renown bonus or something to compensate for taking the XP gains.
