I’ve seen quite a lot of posts about healers complaining that groups expect them to not only heal in dungeons, but do some damage as well. I’ve yet to comment on previous forum posts, but I feel as though a new post explaining the whole “Healers should do dps” would be a better option.
As a tank main, There is nothing I hate more than seeing everyone at full health, and a healer still casting healing spells.
The point of M+ is to complete the dungeon as fast as possible. Any damage helps.
This is the same reason that we eat food for that extra bit of stats at the start, why people flask and use battle pots to increase there damage, even by that extra few percent it might add. The reason you enchant your gear. If everyone does those things, You’re going to finish 5-10% faster, as in total, the group if 5-10% stronger(not actual percentages).
If a healer has downtime, everyone mostly topped up, tank keeping up on HPS, the healer should deal some damage to the mobs, no one expects you to keep up with the dps or the tank.
I’ve had healers in the past just stand there and not do anything when there isn’t anything to heal, or healers that just keep pumping heals to try and set a new over healing record. Neither of those is helpful to the end goal of a M+ dungeon.
A healer spec is given damage abilities, not only to quest, but to use when you don’t need to heal anyone.
Yes, the main job of a healer is to heal. The main job of a dps is to do dps, but dps are also expected to interrupt, stun, slow. So are healers and the tank. Healer spec without an interrupt? Help the dps kill stuff faster, killing something is the best form of interrupting.
If you’re a healer, and you want to do higher end content, the more you bring to the groups you join, the further you’ll get.
