Healer rolling need on a tank weapon?

Just finished a run of DM West as the warrior tank. Timeworn Mace drops, which is a huge upgrade for me - I’m still leveling and using Keris of Zul’Serak.

I roll need on it, after which the druid healer rolls need on it as well. Didn’t say anything, didn’t ask if it was ok, and no warning earlier in the run about rolling need on tank-gear.

I asked him why he did that, and he claims that:

“it makes literally no sense for a warrior to use that”
“it is literally not an upgrade”
“the armor on it is nearly worthless for you”
“it’s a druid weapon, go ask anyone with a clue”

Am I crazy here for thinking that it’s a pretty great warrior tank weapon? And that a healer shouldn’t be rolling need on a tank weapon, without any warning, when the tank needs it?

It’s honestly probably a little worse for warrior tanking than the Keris. The faster speed of the Keris helps out more than a piddly 120 armor, that’s for sure. 2.2 speed isn’t really ideal either. I’d say it’s a side grade since you get some stamina on it maybe.

Then again, if he just took it without a word and called you bad because you took it that druid is a complete clown. It’s probably best for druid tanks, which your druid could very well have been… but they also have way better weapons than that available to them too.

Too slow. and the armor is of a marginal benefit to warriors.

2.2 is fine and the armor isn’t the important bit.

Your title is misleading. While a Druid is a healer, its also many other things, including a tank.

Should you have wrote “druid rolling need on a tank weapon” you probably wouldnt get anyone replying in this thread since it is a DRUID weapon.

Side grade for you, maybe a little worse. Big upgrade for bear tank. Druids heal but they also tank. Case and point, I do both all the time @ 60. Heal in raids, tank for dungeons. I have a gear set for both.

Just to clarify, only the quiraji war hammer is a better 1h tank item. Its a 1H bis for bear tank for quite a while.

Title is accurate as the druid was the healer in the group. Simply saying druid removes context.

What role he’s playing in that group has nothing to do with what his primary spec is. He’s probably planning on going Feral and just healing just to get groups actually forming and running. Otherwise it was a fair roll.

It is a druid weapon… so IDK.
yes it is an upgrade for you, so your not stupid for wanting it…
but…it is a druid weapon, and feral druids do not get very many…there are maybe 5 or 6 in the game that are decent

To be clear, regardless of how good it is for warrior tanks it certainly can be used as such.

However it’s also a good druid tank item. I hear it’s the alternative to warden’s staff due to the armor it grants.

If the druid wanted it for tanking, well gg. If he was just policing your gear choices then douche move.

So wrong on so many levels. Dungeon as a healer means you only roll on healer gear unless previously talked about or others don’t need the item. Just because you can do that role does not give you the right to effectively steal it fro. Others. Get over yourself. This screams self entitlement and selfishness.

What’s funny is people getting mad at hybrids for rolling on healing gear while they’re leveling while not actually healing.

Do you think all shammies are gonna stay Enhance at 60? Are all pallies staying prot? Are all druids staying cat form at 60?
If you need you need.

Trying to avoid roll competition, you might as well inject personal loot into Classic.

If you are in a group as dps and want healing gear then talk with the healer before the run starts. Not doing so just makes you look like a jerk/ninja. I’ve booted people from runs for rolling on offspec gear without saying anything before hand. Let it be known and talk about it. If the healer isn’t ok with it then find another group. Same goes for all roles. I play a warrior tank and a rogue dps. I only roll on gear that I’m currently in the role for. I always ask if it’s ok or try to see what the other people need.

It’s way too slow to be any use to you, you need a fast weapon as tank to generate rage not slow

First of all anything with chance on hit is useless for a Druid being as chance in hit will not proc in any form. Secondly, If leveling I don’t see a big issue with it. although I will agree ms > os. Really depends on the situation. Is he a feral drood that chose to heal because you asked for one and did he clearly state this before party started? If not then yah kinda bs. Even it makes more sense for a drood to roll on that particular item if he isn’t going to use it then doesn’t matter, should of gone to u.
