I was healing, but was also focusing on mechanics and trying to DPS. I was kicked from the raid because my healing was less than the tanks.
Is this the intent of Blizzard’s new focus on healing DPS? they need to provide us the toolset to do it, or we’re just going to DPS and say screw healing.
{Removed} No shade on you or your run. You did what you needed to. I’m just pointing out that Blizzard’s push for DPS healers doesn’t work in end-game content.
But, you were focusing on DPSing in your healer spec?
And you were doing less healing than the tanks because you were focused on DPSing, while in healer spec and in the raid as a healer?
And you are questioning that Blizzard’s intent is for healers in the raid to dps and heal?
If you are in a heroic raid, you should be focusing on healing. And if you were in as a healer on this toon, at 634i, thats on the low end of where you want to be for heroic.
That is inconsistent with the healing methodology supported by Blizzard. They want us to DPS and heal, not sit in the back and just heal. When I did what Blizzard wanted, I was kicked. This isn’t casting shade on the raid leader, I wasn’t healing well, and should have been kicked. My point is that Blizzard’s intended play style for healers is inconsistent with the content they’re providing.
Why do we need healers at all? We can give dps and tanks trinkets to keep up their health and replace all heals with DPS. If healing is inconsistent with Blizzard’s goals for the game, just get rid of them.
Blizz has done a great job with the healing AI for the solo dungeons, why not use it for all dungeons? I mean, how many healers would we really be alienating? DPS and TAnking FTW!!
Ok so…we kick healers for not healing enough. Then we kick healers for not dpsing enough. Now we kick healers who try to do both. At a certain point I would imagine healers be like:
You may wish to remove the name mentioned in your post. Naming and shaming isn’t allowed on the forums.
I can’t say anything in regards to your group because I wasn’t there, but some expect you to do DPS in addition to healing. If there’s downtime, fling a Lightning Bolt or something.
Either way, it’s their group, and they can remove you purely because they don’t like your transmog or something. It stinks but that’s how it rolls sometimes.
So this story is really about their statements on nerfing tank Brann in delves because they said he was too effective when healers would just sit back and heal?
I agree that was a baffling statement when combined with them making him take more damage so healers would have to do more sitting back and healing to keep him alive… but this doesn’t have anything to do with you not doing your job in a raid and getting kicked for it.
The healer also needing to DPS is a really tricky subject. It’s not that you have to heal and dps is that your healing need to be so on point and efficient that you need to also have time to DPS. In M+ this is applied to the tanks and dps using CDs and self healing so the healer can push in some extra DPS on the smaller damage windows and when big damage comes out you switch to healing mode top everybody off stabilize then go back to DPSing until the next damage window. It’s a bit different in raids because you have not so clean groups and mechanics a lot more damage can go out consistently making finding DPS windows hard to find but OVERALL in raids I don’t think I’ve ever seen many point at a healer for low dps so long as their healing was sufficient ( I see in the comments yours wasn’t maybe due to also trying to DPS that I’m not sure of)
nobody in a raid gives a crap about a healers dps unless they are wiping at 0.5 percent and the person is contributing 0 dps. this entire topic is made up
