Healer Kicked from a Heroic Raid for DPS while healing due to low healing

But it actually does.

It works just fine for players who are good enough to pull it off.

As it turns out different forms of end game require different healing and damage priorities for healers, and you chose the wrong type for the wrong content.
clearly a bait thread but trying to apply the logic for one game mode as a blanket is just stupid.

The OP’s first problem is they’re playing a Shaman healer. Shaman’s aren’t even being taken for raids. They are behind Holy Pal atm lol.

Where is Blizzard pushing for DPS healers?

I mean. I absolutely do not believe your made up story. But I would like to know where Blizzard themselves pushed for dps healers specifically?

You can sugarcoat what you were doing all you want, but this is an extremely valid reason to remove a healer from raid.

I don’t know about anyone else, but every successful raid I’ve ever been a part of has used healers as dps, dps as tanks, and tanks as healers.

Funny enough. A dps resto sham during jaina was a thing during BFA.

Didn’t need another healer . Just a healing CD. So some early jaina pushing had a resto sham that would just dps and drop spirit link totem when needed.

and pets as off-tanks! I’ll never forget the OG Obsidian Sanctum raid where we used my Warlock’s Voidwalker Pet as main tank thanks to a glyph they released broken that made it near-immune to the lava wave. It took them 2 weeks to nerf it but we were able to do the heroic achievements in time lol

The point is that they didn’t try to do both. As per what they themselves said; they were a healer dpsing, as opposed to a healer healing and then using the downtime to dps.

Yes, because if you are just sitting afk then you aren’t playing the game. Since that’s what tanking Brann allowed people to do, at the same time as he massively trivialized content, then yes. Brann got nerfed because he needed to be.

This is clearly a made up story just to continue the made-up “anti-healer” spam going on right now but c’mon… The OP is literally saying “I didn’t heal, I was dpsing, and I did less healing than the tank.”

Only way to describe this is a farce because bloody hell. The OP is trolling and folks are using a troll as a way to push a narrative just because it aligns with popular spam.

Unfortunately in pug groups, if your healing is lower than the TANKS, its an indicator that you arent doing your job. Its okay. Starting new a season people are gonna be a pain. I started of healing last season and have had tanks out healing me, couple of improvments with gear and knowing the fight it rarely happens now.

This is no longer true. Now blizz wants you to just heal. That should have been obvious when your dps became 15% of the average damage players dps.

One of the delve threads yesterday was hijacked and turned into a “if you’re not maximizing your DPS as a healer, in single player content, you just suck” argument

Funny to see one that’s basically the opposite now

I felt like this during the Siren Isle patch. Everyone saying “just slap the healing gems into your rings we don’t need healers - I saw it in a you tube video!”

Like, I joined the group to heal. I like healing. Guess Blizzard was toying with making that role even more useless.

Your healing shouldn’t be less than the tank’s. Stop DPSing and heal.

No, they don’t. Especially not in raids.

Was it that third boss with the sound pylons? I started heavily focusing on killing those fire barrels because hardly anybody else was doing them and eventually I got kicked cause my dps suffered. Not to mention as a slow warrior I have to power walk for my life on the knock up mechanic lmao.

dps when theres no healing to do. tank shouldnt have more healing lol

This is frankly, malicious compliance. What Blizzard (and the players) want healers to do is to primarily handle their job of healing and during times when healing is not required contribute to damage. A healer’s damage is ALWAYS secondary to their primary job of keeping everyone healed.

It’s much harder in raid than in a dungeon to find time to deal damage as a healer (though not impossible) and you’ll actually see recommended builds reflect that. Absolutely you should deal damage if there’s no healing to be done, but if your healing output is lower than the tanks that says that you’re not doing that - that you’re doing damage at the expense of necessary healing and forcing the other healers to spend extra resources to cover for your deficit. At higher difficulties or with less capable cohealers the healing would simply not be enough and people would die.

Don’t try to prove a point by deliberately playing stupid. Healing vs. damage is not a binary choice for healers. It’s a sliding scale depending on the group needs at the time. How much room you have to squeeze damage into a fight will vary from encounter to encounter and from group to group.

Counter point, lot of tank dmg, not as much raid dmg, tank is a dk, you’ll never beat them lol

This wasn’t Blizzards fault, this sounds more like a lack of experience and understanding of raiding. I don’t say that in any pointed or “It’s on you bro” type of way. Raiding you focus on healing the most. It’s the way it has been for a long time.

And this has nothing to do with what Blizzard supports, it’s just a lack of experience on your part.
