A thousand times this. Why we’re still in a world that requires significant RNG farming for these holiday items is beyond me.

I don’t know about your realm, but on the one I am on, no one is even bother to run.
Sorry, I have only been back into the game since last November/December… Was without a computer for two years and it took time to get another set up… Hallows End Pets???
Make it so you can trade it then if you get it twice. So many hh mounts get deleted every year. Like that is completely stupid.
Seriously it is a thing.
The events have a had a new thing added on top of the mount out of the loot bag, but this is the first one with a pet from the bag. The others have had like, for example, brewfest had a cool keg armor piece for your dragonriding drakes to customize. But that was all that was new.
Now with hallows end, you get arfas pet potentially, the mount potentially, and a stupid scarlet key which can give access to the old scarlet monastery dungeon if you are into that. But everything is incredibly low.
ANd of course I have deleted so many sinister squashlings, which also drop off the boss and the bag, at like a 50 percent chance.
There’s a new pet this year that drops from the Horseman in the Scarlet Monastery.
https://www.wowhead.com/item=211271/arfus.
As well as the older ones that are on the vendor, five if I remember correctly.
Edited to add there’s also the Creepy Crate from a short quest line in Stormwind/Orgrimmar.
I honestly just wish blizz would make anything that drops in the loot bag tradeable to anyone who was in the party when it dropped. That is so dumb to me.
There is a new battle pet this year with Hallow’s End. Apparently it requires significant RNG luck and some combination of using curses.
I think the curses suck. I’ve done 2/4 and I have seen no increase in my chances as I ONLY get masks in my pumpkins. I’ll likely give it a try a couple more times but if I keep getting masks for the curses I’m done. Classic is much more satisfying than this frustration engine.
I did a test yesterday:
1st one with curses I got Arfus again.
2nd one I did no curses and no special loot.
3rd one with curses I got the broom.
4th and 5th with curses i got the pumpkin pet.
6th one with curses I got the pumpkin pet and the sinister slicer sword.
7th and 8th with curses i got nothing special.
9th with curses I got the broom
But sometimes it can glitch out and the debuff is removed before the boss is killed.
Also, it seemed like most of them also got a ring from the boss itself.
Just got the mount last night after 15 years of farming the dang thing also I used the four curses each run.
So much this, everything from Holiday events need to be on a vendor for Holiday currency. That way players can at least work towards whatever they want, and if they get it off the boss, that’s a bonus and they can buy something else.
they should stop this. you shouldn’t need to farm on alts and stuff. let ppl farm this dungeon until it’s over. the drop rate is already bad i don’t play more than 2-3 classes mostly i shouldn’t need to make an alt army to do an event
Is there any point in running the horseman before 70?
I already stopped doing this event because with everyone doing the curses the boss dies too slow for my liking so I am having to waste more time in there for a tiny chance at something I don’t really need.
Everyone in the group suffers if you have bad players in there doing the curses.
Characters that are 60+ get the same bag as level 70, as you could see from the dungeon finder window.
Nobody can learn how to deal with the curses if they don’t do the fight. There’s a huge difference between espousing theory and practice - the latter is the only way to get proficient at handling it. And some people are going to bungle that - it’s how they learn.
Doesn’t matter me want to waste my time more because people are ‘learning’. The drop rate is too small to waste the time.
F.A.I.L.: First attempt in learning.
That is understandable, and I totally hear you. If the fight drags on too long it’s not past me to bail mid-fight and queue on the next character.
A mythic raider told me once the difference between good dps and bad dps is that good dps can do mechanics and not have their dps drop. That was actually more of what I was talking about rather than learning the curses because those players will always be a drag on the group. Full disclosure my dps drops a lot in there - might give it a go on my hunter though but melee sucks in there.
