It doesn't help that pet AI seems incredibly... sluggish, this expac. Frequently they'll run up to something I just killed and sort of... stand there before coming back.
Assist is basically passive with a snooze timer on attacking, so I probably should macro in petattack and what not, (but as a holdover from a lot of PvP, I normally just manage it with scroll wheel. Alt scroll up is attack, alt scroll down is follow, and alt scroll click is go-to),

Been goofing off with unholy the last couple days, have to agree with assist being far more sluggish than I remember. Stupid goul will wait staring at what just died wasting 1/4 to 1/3 of its’ empowered mode before moving on sometimes. Same goes for army of the dead minions (just only one at a time, so it sorta mitigates the issue)
Havent touched the gargoyle, which would be hilarious with the impact to cast time already there. Granted, you wouldn’t burn the gargoyle on mobs close to death.
I've been keeping the Pet on passive and using KC to get them to attack.
I always have pet attack macro'd. Pets would feel horrible without it.
As for LW, I don't want anyone to feel forced into uaing or not using it. It should be a choice. I think both should be viable. I don't think either one should be vastly out performing the other.

So starting tomorrow I'll be pet / house sitting until monday. Hitting 120 will likely have to wait until next week.
I play D&D tonight with my IRL group. In that group I'm playing as a greedy abjuration wizard who made a deal with an angel who saw he could do great things with his life. Character arc wise, going to have him turn into a good person eventually. Right now he is sketchy and his story is tied to the group's necromancer (adopted son basically).
I like to call my build for him the target dummy build. I cast armor of agathys, I get a lot of health, super easy to hit, but you hurt yourself in return when you hit me.
The DM also hates me for magically locking doors. I may have locked an evil lord in a room with no escape and no food or water.
I'm assuming that guy has died now.

My gf and I have been trying to get a D&D sesh going for a while now.
It'll be her first tabletop... or RPG that isn't pokemon in general.
What sold her was a combination of the Adventure Zone and the prospect of playing a Dragonborn Druid. Her whole character arc is base around her being part of a house-ruled clan of dragonborn made up of mixed colors in a swampy region and she's trying to reunite with her adopted brother.
My mook is a half-elf bard who's not really clear on the whole "half elf" thing. He just thinks of himself as a "swamp elf" who happened upon this Dragonborn and saw the merits of a good story in the works. Loving story above all else and seeking to write his own epic, he follows them around wherever this hunt for lost kin would take his tale. (Also I've got a great bayou character voice for him that is too fun to not use).
Our third is undecided if he's going to be a Kobold who is basically Twitch from League of Legends or some old war Living Armor. He's torn rn.
As for the story, all we know is that it's gonna be an island-naval adventure akin to one-piece, but not much else.

My main reason I haven't macro'd it yet is because frequently I'd have my pet tank something big while I focus on smaller stuff that I don't want my pet running around trying to snag up. I mean maybe it wouldn't be all that bad to just slap it into my already dense macros, idk.08/22/2018 11:24 AMPosted by LazyguideI always have pet attack macro'd. Pets would feel horrible without it.
Maybe I'm just curmudgeon-y...
Additionally, I need to work on my keybinds. Whenever I get ganked I panic the wrong modifiers for a lot of my abilities (namely shift and alt, which should not be an issue, but for instance shift + q is explosive trap, but I often panic for alt +q, which is actually my extra action bar...) but I guess it's because I have some conflicting themes built up over the years. I mean, Shift F has been flare for... 9 years? But my bars binds would "feel" janky if shift F was right next to alt Q as opposed to shift Q....
Maybe I'm just overthinking it and just rambling because my boss has given me too much free time today...
I can't fault your wife on Pokemon, still one of my all time favorite game series to play haha!
I love the idea for your half elf. Sounds like he'd be a fun character to RP as. Especially when people do try to explain the whole half elf thing to him.
I recommend your friend to play a kobold. For no other reason than that I want to play a kobold samurai one day because the mental imagery makes me giggle.
I'm also jealous of your naval setting. I play in two groups, both of which we are collecting orbs to stop some great evil. Which is fine, I'm invested in both, but they are pretty generic :P.
My warlock / rogue in my other group is an amazing archer who is obsessed with knowledge. He made a pact with Mephistopholes and sold his soul for forbidden knowledge. He's actively trying to gain more power so he can steal his soul back. He doesn't really care about the big evil or the invading armies from the north, other than the fact that if they win they could seriously ruin his chances for getting his soul back.
It's fun infusing his shots with powerful magic.
My favorite character any of my fellow players has made so far has been Mr. Moogsly, the Halfling Divination Wizard who reads tea leaves. The dude has no understanding of how to interact socially, and is much smarter than everyone else and he knows it. He also assumes everyone is filled with the best intentions leading him to trust some people he probably shouldn't. Like a group of bandits.

As for not macroing your attacks, I actually completely understand that. There have been plenty of boss fights I've soloed where I need the adds to stay away from the boss or the boss to stay somewhere, which means I end up replacing my macros on my bars with the normal spells.
Not wife (yet). She insists on not getting married until she has achieved the weight loss she wants.
I want him to play a Kobold, too. Though he's more of a Kobold alchemist/plague doctor thing. And our 4th who I had completely forgotten about till now because they haven't talked to me in a week is a kinkou.
Here's their broken strat. Kobold hides in bag because of his "small" status while the Kinkou carries him around, granting him pack tactics at all times. The guy playing him may only be 14 , but he's always surprising me with his wit and cleverness.
Socially inept characters can be fun too. Like your Wizard, I had a character in Geist who was pretty much my first time-long term campaign character, and through that, I learned a lot of consequences of being what could be considered the WoD equivalent of a murder hobo (or just breaking any laws).
I basically would have died had I not had success explosion. For reference, World of Darkness uses a "success system" where you roll a number of D10s based on skill and 8-10 are considered successes, 1-3s are subtract from successes, and 10s get a chance to reroll, and can chain into themselves.
I had a difficulty of success of about 5 (meaning of my 2 performance skill and two of my 4 in the composure stat), I only had 6 D10s to work with. while the first 5 rolls yielded only 3 successes, the final die had basically exploded. I chained 10 a 4 times in a row. Couple that with the bonus song number I whipped up for a plus one success and I somehow managed to avoid the ire of a bunch of gang bangers and gained a social link for character progression.
As for RPing, for sure it'll be fun. My whole schtick since playing World of Darkness: Geist the Sin Eaters is how I learned the fun of playing non-combat characters. So as a bard, sure I'll have a few basic attacks for survival, but I'm definitely going to focus on using the environment and charisma to get out of hairy situations.

You know. I read GF. And my brain said "wife" for some reason. Whoops!
And your kenku and kobold friends are clever. But I think they are missing something that pokes a hole in their bag- I mean strategy.
Pack tactics is amazing, however Kobolds also have sunlight sensitivity. Even with that strategy, unless you can fight consistently in darkness / away from the sun, advantage and disadvantage cancel out so he'll only be making nomal attacks without advantage or disadvantage. Advantage and disadvantage also don't stack, so there's no real good way around this problem unless he and the kenku both take a two level dip into warlock and pick the invocation to let them see in all datkness (including magical) and someone has the ability to cast darkness on them.
If they are constantly together, any aoe attack like Fireball could spell trouble quickly. It would also be really bad if an enemy trips the kenku, and since he's holding the bag I'm assuming logically the Kobold will fall too. It's a cool concept, but I doubt it's as broken as your friend thinks it is with a clever DM :P.
I also love the idea of an alchemist character. I keep hoping they'll release an official subclass for an alchemist styled character.
That also sounds like a neat system. So far I haven't played with any major homebrew rules or extra systems, so I have nothing that's really comparable to your story unfortunately.
As for your character, it's a stereotype at this point. It's always the bards who are the fun ones or have the wonky non combat focus. And I kind of love it. Our bard in our saturday group is obsessed with beauty, she writes poems and songs for her character and has maybe polymorphed our barbarian once so he wouldn't kill a hydra who she said "was just playing with you, don't hurt him" when the hydra was trying to actively eat us. She mistook it as a playful pet.

In case anyone's interested, you can tame the bewitched Bears during the WQ when it's up. Glow bears with glow eyes.
Cool, I'm going to recycle some pets and these might just be what I want.08/22/2018 02:47 PMPosted by FirekatkidIn case anyone's interested, you can tame the bewitched Bears during the WQ when it's up. Glow bears with glow eyes.

Actually just went back. WQ doesn't even need to be up. Honestly, if I used bears, I would totally nab one. They do look sick.
Right now, I'm just saving the rest of my current empty slots for the other Sabertron colors.
I picked up a bear in Stormsong, that's really about it after getting a black Hyena for PvP.
