Lol you think people would level 1 to 80 in a hardcore environment? They cant even level 1 to 80 without a 50% exp buff.

It’s a lot more fun to lvl 1-60 in tbc or wotlk than in vanilla.
More quests. Better rewards. Better xp
I feel like playing HC on WotLK would eliminate a huge part of the challenge, but maybe that’s not necessarily bad? One thing I don’t always love about vanilla is having to finish quest hubs for XP, when oftentimes I might rather keep exploring to another quest hub where I can do a handful of less serious kill and pick up quests before moving on again, instead of embarking on long story lines with dwindling quests as you near each climax.
That’s how WotLK leveling works in my experience, you don’t need to finish entire zones bc of the reduction of XP required to level, and the increase in player power makes all the kill and pickup quests feel adequately easy given their nature. While it doesn’t sounds very HC to fly through quest hubs without being afraid to die, I guess the real challenge comes when you hit Outland and Northrend and have to sink in waaaaay more time than anyone in vanilla would ever have to.
I certainly wouldn’t play it but I can see why someone else might!
