Those too would like to know the final destination of the BC servers - stay in BC or progress to Wrath (and Cata) eventyally? This needs answering before I’m on board for anything fresh.
Oh I’m not saying that they shouldn’t let it be known, but I’m excited enough by the prospect to be in regardless of the direction because vanilla->tbc is worth my time no matter where it lands
This is exactly what I asked for and wanted. Thank you Blizzard! *no pun intended
Let’s agree to disagree. I’m not once again levlling a host of toons to loose when/if Cata comes around.
Even if I did have fun in Classsic-TBC-Wrath, I still miss the toons I spent time on, and no more can play because I intensely dislike Cata – Lucklily a minority of my toons only, as I kept most of them in Era.
I asked for progression servers through Classic expansions. There ya go!
oh really? on which alt mr. 1 post lol
This is always what people want, and we very, very rarely get clarification on anything. Sometimes even years in.
I would add another to this
- If you die on the new Hardcore Realm, do you get a character transfer option to the FRESH era realm?
Unlike the fate of BC servers this is clear:
Yes, this is why we have the new HC realms in the first place. Can’t have fully geared 60’s from old HC transferring to the pristine new realms, now
Can you link me where they say this? If I make a character on this FRESH HC realm, and die, I can transfer to the FRESH vanilla realm and not the Whitemane Cluster?
Why can’t they just announce TBC era, or not? I don’t mind doing starting completely over, I just want confirmation that this won’t turn into another classic
I do not know if you can transfer to the Whitemane (or indeed any old) cluster - but I know that you’re not going to be able to move to the new realms from the old HC I would suspect you would not be allowed to move to the old ones, as they’d like the fine new fresh to be a success
Let’s see what Kaivax says re this subject:
and
- progressing HC to ensure that players going to normal realms do not have gear as yet unobtainable there.
- You can move from the anniverary HC to the Normal realm only, not PvP.
- He is throughout the whole text speaking only of the Anniversary realms, so the chance of you being allowed to go to the old realms - where we’re now free to choose PvE or PvP clusters, but not the RP realms - are slim in my opinion.
BGs are trivial honor for pre-raid weapons / catch up gear as the phases move on
You’re right, it seems like they might be repeating the same mistake they made the first time with Classic, where they split every existing server into a TBC server and a cloned vanilla server… which is why TBC Classic had such a rough time with population balance across the servers. If people play on these future TBC servers just because they want fresh servers, they’re not going to be happy when they become TBC. If Blizzard does another cloning/splitting they will have learned nothing.
Some of us are demanding Blizzard state their intentions with these servers, because we want TBC Era. I’m not going to give them a chance to screw us over and force us into Wrath again. I think people who just want fresh vanilla should do the same thing. Blizzard MUST clarify how this works. I don’t want to waste my time just for them to bungle everything again.
I’m really hoping these are meant to be TBC Era servers, and they are just doing the vanilla classic bit in an attempt to keep people from rushing through to Outland in one day… and that there will be no cloning/splitting. But that’s extra disappointing for people who want to main Draenei and Blood Elves.
This is why making 3 era servers, 1 server per each of the original trilogy, was the correct move from the start and then you have the progression/seasonal servers. Doing it any other way just alienates part of the classic playerbase.
I’ve been perusing these forums for many years, and I have never once seen a huge crowd of people demanding TBC realms Is this a streamer thing? Most people just want fresh vanilla.
era is not fresh vanilla
It is exactly what I wanted actually
If the playerbase gets loud enough about this, you have two years to convince them of it.
I know blizzard. once they make a decision like this, they aren’t changing they probably view releasing one permanent realm for each expansion as dividing the player base too much.
You only need a few thousand active players for a very healthy era server
