People asked for fresh era servers and Fresh BC servers. Not another 6 phases of classic AGAIN into burning crusade re-release AGAIN.
Why is this so complicated? People asked for something very specific and you’re taking the lazy 2 birds with 1 stone way to get there.

And is it guaranteed it stays at TBC? Or will they force a progression to Wrath eventually? If I level another character through vanilla to play TBC, I want to make sure I can stay playing TBC.
That is really the real question.
Because I literally cannot level another character through vanilla to only play TBC to be forced to Wrath. If that makes sense lol
I think they took two separate pieces of feedback, those asking for fresh classic and those asking for TBC, and smashed them into one. Which is silly.
I’m actually hitting the point where I might, maaaaaaybe be interested in playing a little bit of TBC, but given that I’ve been active in Era over the last year I have zero desire to turf all my progress and start over. Not only that, but it would require abandoning all of the relationships I’ve developed in that time.
Not only that, but the TBC server is just gonna die again, so why even bother? Man I swear… Blizzard is so dense sometimes.
At best I will probably slowly level an alt or two, simply to wait for TBC, but the lack of confirmation that it will stop at TBC is the real problem.
My two questions:
…A lot of us have put a lot of time into leveling in era only to see now that we have to start over. I’d even be ok if there were concerns about economy about having a gold cap or something going into the TBC copy…
Could you imagine these Dev’s in a relationship? They never listen and will over complicate everything you ask of them lol.

Yea, I don’t trust Blizzard one bit here. It seems like they’re trying to scare folks into playing with FOMO. Like, I’m already subbed and playing because Era exists.
Far better to just have Era servers for each expansion. If they really wanna cash in on FOMO, release annual events to stimulate population on some rotating schedule but leave the dang servers there.
Yea if I’m being honest, I’ve been seriously considering “alternative” options. It’s like Blizzard doesn’t want my money lol.
I really tried forcing myself to like SoD. But Turtle simply does classic+ better than SoD. SoD showed me they can’t do classic+ right imo. I come back every SoD patch and go back to turtle after a week or two after trying to force myself to like it. Plus the gold buying and bots are out of control even with GDKP gone. A private server like Turtle actually handles botters and gold buyers better than a billion dollar corp with tons of employees… it’s sad.
it’s like WoTLK in the old world with bad gimmicks. People just wanted classic+. Classic world, classic gameplay with some minor adjustments and new content. That’s it… /sigh. TBC is the closest blizz got to classic+. Sucks it’s not part of the old world but the gameplay feels classic+ to me so I look past the other issues of TBC.
Uhm its exactly what I asked for. I dont want everything unlocked day 1.
Players: We want fresh era and burning crusade servers please.
Devs: Okay here’s another 14 months of playing Vanilla once again and then you can get Burning Crusade but we’re not going to give you any information beyond that.

It’s crazy that for years and years, this crappy level of communication is still the norm despite how big Blizz got.
Hundreds of new developers hired, multiple studios acquired, still can’t get human beings communicate daily anywhere official.
Those wanting TBC want to start with TBC, not have to spend a year in classic. Those who only want ERA, don’t really want to move onto TBC. A better solution would have been to launch a fresh TBC server that will never progress past TBC, and a fresh ERA server which after P6 would merge into the Whitemane/Mankirk Clsuters.

I’m fine starting over level 1, it will be fun. But you’re not screwing us over again! I have ZERO interest in Wrath.
They’re playing it safe… odds are, if the interest in the 20th anniversary version doesn’t meet expectations, they’ll probably just rush through the phases and get us to tbc as quickly as possible…
I doubt we’ll be waiting a whole year… at most we’ll have naxx by june then tbc launch by august.
I mean it sucks we have to go thru ERA for a year+ to get to TBC, and honestly if that was the only problem with the announcement, while it would suck, it would be fine. However them saying not there will be a forever TBC server at the end is the problem, no desire to move onto WOTLK, thats the real issue.
Low hanging fruit; but this does yield what most desire in fresh.
“FRESH” serves will collapse after AQ opens just like always, and then potentially kick off again for TBC, but that’s expected.
You can 100% skip launch at this point and just level casually AF in prep for TBC; this is what I plan on because I love TBC raids; TBC is near BiS as a PVE game, but its PVP is less good than vanilla because the classes are so binary by comparison; truly they lack the depth of vanilla, and I know its strange to think about it that way when there are indeed more abilities in TBC than Vanilla. Problem is the new talents and abilities added in TBC reduce your options of play style greatly, and only certain comps / specs are any good in TBC’s arena.
BG’s in TBC are even less competitive than in Vanilla because there is no reason to do them other than pre-gear for arena where you’re 100% behind the curve on several classes / yet it almost does not matter on others…
Raid logging TBC will be what I do when it does come out, but for the rest of the time ill enjoy Era because this is what I do now.
