I’m not really a big pvp’er, but i hop in for dallies to get conquest for transmogs.
A few weeks ago i wasn’t having any issue getting into daily epic bg’s. Suddenly it’s telling me the average wait time is 19 minutes, but I have to wait over an hour for an epic BG to come up. regular BG’s aren’t much better. (Yes, i am aware average wait time doesn’t mean exact wait time, but for pve content, it’s seems more accurate).
I’m sure it’s something I’m missing, or not seeing, but I’m not seeing this discussed and I’m wondering if I’m the only one experiencing this.

PvP in general is dead. Premades and Blizzard inaction killed it for half the people, the other half in general doesn’t like the PvP to begin with. So much CD reliance, dmg and healing both too high, damage only happens inside cd’s, cc, annoying abilities (evokers), etc.

The PvP weekly quests that gives rep/pve currency will usually move queue times for different modes in one direction or another. Blitz and skirms are better queues this week while other modes are somewhat less active, relatively. This effect is particularly felt on Tues/Weds.
Also, alliance queue times are much longer rn. You can do merc and get faster queues. Random bgs are always fast for horde (1-3 mins even at dead hours).
Lastly, matchmaking for even randoms favors more spec diversity. Rsham is currently the #2 healer and a very popular choice so you might be getting clogged a bit by that.

Anyone under honor level 30 is in their own bracket. That’s why your queues are long. Once you get past that, you’ll be in with everyone else.
It’s definitely a combination of things: some of it will be due to remix being launched recently and there being less people queueing for PVP while leveling and the other is your honor level, you’ll have to get above 30 to get into regular BGs.
You could try queueing up with someone who is above honor level 30 and they can pull you into that bracket but if you solo, you will probably struggle to get games until people come back from remix.
Anyone blaming “premades” in this thread and failing to notice the one relevant factoid should really just go play another game. Maybe something cozy where you grow veggies and cook baked goods.
