I think eSports have ruined retail. Blizzard trying to make wow an export has created a terribly toxic gogogo elitist community. I told they stop with that nonsense the community won’t get better.

I love people who say this as if PvP and Raid aren’t heavily gatekept, vetted and full of vetoing if you don’t have good logs, aren’t the right class, aren’t the right spec.

Elitism is really not a thing in modern games.
Telling people their builds are bad, that they aren’t playing their character correctly, or that they are messing up mechanics isn’t elitism.

My guild literally doesn’t care about getting logs from new people. We typically don’t care what class someone plays but we do like buffs. We don’t really care, for example, what spec someone plays so long as it’s the role they joined to play.
We just want people who aren’t jerks, will show up, and if they aren’t doing well, be willing to work on improving/having a training montage.
Raiders are made.

100% you hit the nail on yhe head good sir. Mythic plus is the most toxic environment in all of gaming. Every single key i have tried to do ends in me getting be littled because i dont do enough dps, or heal, or “know mechs”. News flash how am i suppose to get better if no one invites ne to groups or they kick me and be little me!!! Its so so so unfair. Mythic plus is far to difficult for the average wow player!!! Blizzard needs to stop catering to try hard no life sweat lords. Enough is enough.

It was a combination of both Blizzard and players. Blizzard provided the means, the players bought it hook line and sinker.
Yes, retail has gotten more elitist as casual content has been removed, trivialized, and nerfed into pointlessness. This encourages people who thrive on treating other people badly to do just that, knowing that there are no consequences for abusing players they see as inferior human beings.
It’s that “win at all costs” esports mentality that is inherently part of esports, competition by people who treat their “friends” list like running a temp agency, and think if you want to play with your real friends, you’re doing life wrong.
