Has Classic lived up to your expectations?

Is it what you remembered or what you thought it would be?

It has been pretty fun but the mage carries are killing the world pvp/dungeon finding while leveling. Not hating on mages btw

Battlegrounds killed WPvP.

It’s actually a lot better than what I thought it would be. I cannot believe how much time I am putting (and have put) into it!

Yes! You cannot find Warrior gameplay like this in modern WoW. While I did level a warrior I’m also trying things I didn’t last time through, like leveling paladin and I might actually try raiding this time around since the time commitment doesn’t seem as demanding as it once was.

players are kinda different but Classic’s fair.

In enjoying it. I like my guild mates and have fun raiding… pvp is ok (rogue lol)

Outside of that bubble tho, the community has kinda turned to #$@%.

I’m not a fan of mage carry groups… I do agree it kills the leveling experience. I know you dont have too use their services, but 95% of the players now will.

Pretty much when I got my warrior to 60 then realised I was screwed when it came to roles.

Should’ve gone with Rogue or Shaman.

AV was a let down too. We just got a generic, bland AV instead of the one brimming with npcs. Retail did though. Kinda tells you where Blizzs priorities lie.

No. So many things are broken. WoW in 2005 was made up of a cross-section of the general public. WoW Classic is made up mainly of meta-gamers. Blizzard 2005 had a good and well deserved reputation. Blizzard 2020 is full of incompetence and greed, and it shows. WoW 2005 was a flagship game and abuse and problems were hotfixed within a week. WoW Classic is an afterthought and massive problems linger for months unaddressed, often times even getting worse when they go unaddressed.

PvP is broken, pre-mades are broken, AV is broken, people exploit so much stuff, and people still can’t even log into the game without hour long queues or worse.

Some of this is true. Most classic players are returning veterans, and even if they are not the best players the average classic player is way more competent than the average vanilla player was. (We didn’t have as many useful addons and sites back then either).

Some of it isn’t. 2004-6 WoW had lingering issues and bugs that sometimes took years to fix (Reckoning bombs says hi). You don’t know how broken PvP gets until you see Warriors and Rogues running around in AQ40 gear.

Overall a good experience. Bought back nostalgic moments during leveling in the beginning and early end game pvp/pve. The private server and min/max community kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. That and almost everybody rolling mages/warriors at the beginning because they were the best classes in pvp/pve. The way blizzard handled server population by opening free transfers really screwed up some server populations, but I don’t put the blame on blizzard for the most part. I blame the population websites that didn’t provide accurate numbers which most players based their decisions on. This was out of blizzard’s control but they could have made better decisions on opening up free transfers or blocking paid transfers to already full servers.

Remember? No. I didn’t play classic. Am I enjoying it? Yes.

first hour of leveling everything was full and camped. and everyone was complaining about bags not dropping. Then a few players stopped leveling, picked up tailoring and started making bags free with mats for people.

Im having fun and dont see myself quitting anytime soon but I have some gripes with how blizzard has handled changes to the game. They have been very inconsistent with what they allow to get around the whole #nochanges bit and the game suffers for it.
I also despise spellbatching and mob leeway. It just makes the game feel clunky and unintuitive. Its especially infuriating because it was originally in the game to level the playing field with poor connections that players largely dont have anymore. Having it in now is like wearing glasses when you dont need them. It just harms the experience.

I was a long time supporter for Vanilla realms, it was the best time I ever had in PVP, made Rank 14 twice, had several other high ranked chars back in the days.

Unfortunately, has xrealm killed everythin for me. I fight people I never see again, it´s all about premades and queue dodging.

PVP should have stayed realm only, with a cap of how many more players a faction can have online, to keep the queues low. With that balance, we would have had an amazing pvp experience.

These forums did.

Yes, in the sense that I got bored leveling at 40 and stopped after hearing how slow the leveling was. It’s not for everyone and that’s fine. There just wasn’t much of a goal for me ultimately and I’m dedicated to raiding on retail so couldn’t dedicate time to classic raiding too.

Yes and no.

I am having a blast playing through the old zones again. I never really liked what Cataclysm did to many of the original zones. So wonderful to see Tanaris, Darkshore, and Westfall restored back to their original beauty!

And this time I get to go through while showing my wife all the wonderful things the original game had. We have not touched our Retail characters since Classic launched!

I do have to agree with Gazwaldo though on the unfortunate state of ActiBlizzard and the prevalence of meta-gamers. While it was a LONG time ago I don’t actually remember so many d-bag AoE Mages running around taking every quest MoB available with no thought of other players. I also don’t remember Black Lotus being more rare than a truthful statement from Trump!!

However, those negatives aside I have been enjoying my re-playthrough of Azeroth in its original state. I do think it would have been a bit better if everyone played the game with some originality rather than just doing whatever YouTube and Twitch players tell you is the “best” way to play, but sheeple will be sheeple eh?

Thanks.

It was good fun until BGs came out. Since then it has been nothing more than lame grinds, no matter what you are trying to do.
