Has Classic lived up to your expectations?

I started in TBC and only got serious in Wrath, so I have no Vanilla experience.

That said, yes, yes it is. Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms have meaning again and the leveling process isn’t so ridiculously easy. Gold has meaning. Characters don’t have 300K health. I love it.

It’s what I thought it would be, just as bad as I anticipated.

But nothing like Vanilla at all.

Not really. My Expectations were actually in the trash to be honest. Mostly because of how people play retail, pserver communities…Dare I say more? It reflects on it, people aren’t how I remember people played vanilla. very few people are actually nice/helpful. It’s all Me Me Me Me now.

Everyone just knows everything obviously so it takes some of the mystery out of the game.

With that comes people judging you if you don’t have BiS. It is still a blast to play though.

Not as good as actual vanilla but better than almost everything else

I started in early TBC but much of it is familiar to me still. I agree that the launch and bugs could have been worked on better, but on the other hand I expected as much.

It’s been good besides the horrendous version of AV. That’s by far been the worst part.

agree, healie priest here and i love to dungeon, i love mages too but…

You summed it up very well for pvp .

Overall, I’m happy with classic, but this version of Classic does not represent the true Vanilla in my opinion :
Should be no xrealms bgs;
Should have no paid transfers;
Should have no nerf of raids, way too easy now;
Should have an AV version more truthful to the original;

I love my server, it reminds me my Vanilla experience though. It’s even better. Sorry I won’t tell which server it is.

Nope. The server I chose has a terrible community, and I didn’t get the version of AV I wanted (which was my fave part of vanilla) and with the current state of it I don’t want to play battlegrounds… ever.

Yes classic is great, However I wish the current versions of the game didn’t end up the way they are now and still followed the same simplicity as classic.

I love Classic. I would like to see Classic+ made where the boss mechanics are made somewhat more involving and challenging though. As the general player is far more skilled than they were in vanilla.

Yes and no. Overall i’ve enjoyed my time with it, and its been an good worthwhile experience.

I do find the game to be painfully unsatisfying though. I never expected “hard” but i expected to have to slowly gear up to progress through raids, opposed to destroying them week one with ease.

If nothings challenging, nothing really feels rewarding for me. Oh that DFT just dropped? Okay cool now im stronger which will allow me to do the same raid i already destroyed slightly easier.

I’m an original Vanilla player, but I must say. The demographics and attitudes in this game are a lot different. There was always some elitism, and douchebaggery in WoW, but I feel like it’s been a lot worse this time around. People are not nearly as friendly as they used to be. I resubbed after leaving WoW in 2010.

Sub runs out in a few weeks, so I’ll see how I feel then about continuing.

Yeh i have found this aswell. It probably comes with the amount of information that is now freely available on the internet. There wasn’t as much so in the past and so being socially friendly in game rewarded you with knowledge and experience from other players grouping up with you and showing you the way.

I’ve found you can quite easily silence “elitism and douchebaggery” though with kindness. :slight_smile:

Oh, absolutely! I’m a person of gentle nature, and I don’t like conflict. Not going to bore you with the situation I dealt with, but it was enough for me to just go, “I don’t need this crap in my life, nor do I allow it.”

I pulled away from the community pretty much in this game, and I do things on my own. Mainly, that’s become casual solo queue pvp.

Met too many dbags in the last bit to make me lose faith in the scene here. People here really need to smarten up, and stop treating others so poorly. There is no reason to be a prick to people in a video game… especially when it’s unwarranted.

Wow community needs a reboot.

Classic has been much, much better than I expected. I thought I would try it for a couple days and then stop. Instead it’s all I play.

“Remember”? I don’t remember something and compare it to Classic. I’ve played WoW every day since November 2004. That means I have spent YEARS playing each expansion. Why would I remember one particular moment?

It has exceeded all expectations, for better or worse.

I knew I was gonna play it when it was announced, I didn’t think it would grab onto me to me the way it has. I won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

It’s actually a good trait to be able to find enjoyment on your own, so keep doing that, but hang in there as far as the community goes… there are those ‘diamond in the rough’ players out there that are on the exact same page as you and i’d say they’re enough.

Yes. Yes it has.

I might try out Shadowlands, since I pre-ordered it, but Classic is my home.

It’s not just the game either, it’s important that you find a guild or other players that you enjoy the journey with because if you don’t, Classic will not be the same experience.

Community is what sets Classic apart from the expansions after it.
