A 4090 needs a modern, high end cpu.
You really need to look at an entirely new platform, like am5 and go with a 7800x3d.
i have the 4080 and but youre probably right. i just didnt want to rebuild my mobo & ram as well, ill need an entire new tower.
i did update to Windows 24H2 and performance across all games is definitely better, happy about that. But yeah WoW is still not great. Will see FPS below 60 often.
It’s me, the boomer with the ancient workstation on the opposite side of the gaming computer spectrum…HP Z640 with dual Xeon E5 2673 V4 / 128g of ddr4 - 2133mhz RAM and a Radeon 6800 XT. Still plugging along at 1080p gaming on my beloved Dell U2412M monitor. 40 cores / 80 threads / 100mb L3 cache. I’m a old computer rockstar or something like that. I’m at 60FPS pretty much and happy with my setup.
