Has anyone successfully created a group via TBC LFG tool?

There are a lot of people bashing the WoTLK/Retail LFD tool but I’m wondering if anyone has or continues to use the built in LFG tool to create groups successfully. I tried it a few times when it came out and a few times since and it has never worked.

I tried it once, and after almost 3 hours trying to make a Mech group, I quit.

I have once, but what actually happened is I noticed a Rdruid healer in the LFG tool and then invite the other DPS that was in as well, thinking “wow, maybe we can form a group”. After that one of them knew a tank that would run and we found a random third DPS. I was amazed it actually all worked out, I believe we ran Heroic Mech.

If the one person didn’t know that tank the run probably wouldn’t have happened.

i just use it like i would LFD and it works decent enough. set up which 3 dungeons i want to run and say i’m a healer and then i go about my day and i usually get at least 1 group invite from it. then again only getting 1 dungeon run in a 4 hour period is super slow and i’d probably have gotten like 10 if i was using LFD

though this is all experience from leveling a new horde character on Mankrik so i don’t know how bad it will be at max level.

i’ve always used it when i log on and go about working on dailies until someone messages me to run whatever… just like i did back in OG.

the time to not implement it was back then- they just as soon add it now because it won’t fix the past.

That’s a good point. current experience should reference server since some servers have very low pop and some have very high. I hopped on Manrkik to have a look see and it does seem to very happening. Although the LFG chat is mostly selling boost services.

No, and Blizz is being outdone by people making free addons. How can Blizz Devs even call themselves devs. Honestly, what are they “developing”? New ways to monetize whales even further?

Honestly I don’t think many people even know it exists.

My criticism of the tool is that its “OK” but the UI is kinda bad.

No one uses it and hardly anyone even knows it exists.

I was mostly successful in using the lfg tool. I successfully noticed there was a new button on my mini-bar. I successfully clicked that button and brought up the lfg frame. I was successful in figuring out it was a method for finding a group and I successfully figured out how to use it. Unfortunately I was never successful in finding a group using the tool but with the 4 successes mentioned above out of 5 I was about 80% successful

I used it a few times early on to find someone here and there but soon gave up on it. Most people don’t use it so you may as well not bother either. What has helped me more than anything is the bulletin board addon. It filters out all the unwanted trash in chat to just present you a list of what you actually want to see.

By the developers (at the time) own admission, the LFG tool was rough and an early draft of what was to become LFD.
I actually found a 2019 interview where they said they always intended to have automated matchmaking for dungeons in WoW at launch.

I have used it a few times and found party members, so yes.

I have no idea why people would rather spam the LFG channel over it.

:man_shrugging:

Yes On Only on SoM though But then again when you have a population of 7536 That kind of makes sense.

So to answer your question yes people do make groups with that they just don’t do it on tbc lol

My wife uses it all the time, but we’re on a large realm, still takes hours sometimes.
