While I can’t confirm for SURE, I did HH 6 times on normal mode on 6 different characters, and got no key.
Did it on hard mode once, and got the key.
If hard mode isn’t required to get the key, it definitely seems to greatly increase the odds.
Also… I just used the key and entered the old Armory wing, and I have to ask… was the old dungeon really THIS easy to peek over the edges of?
Just entered the training grounds, and maybe the camera couldn’t pull this far back in the old days, but I can very clearly see over the walls into the void.
I don’t think the new version was this easy to do this in, so it must be a classic thing.
Raises hand: Question, i have looted most of the items from old SM back in the day. I have not been in game yet for the event, or to check, but wont those mogs already be in my mog tabs already? Or do i have to do SM again to aquire the mogs?
Speaking only for myself, this is the BEST addition to a holiday in many years. Hits me right in the feels!

Just gonna throw my two cents in but i did the run only once, with the HM on, and I got the key from the pumpkin immediately.
I am jealous. Killed him on 4 guys and nothing. Will the key drop on lower than 60 guys?
I do not know. Got mine on a 60. I ran the dungeon on 4 59’s after that and didn’t get it on them. Since it is account-wide, it might be the case that you have to be on a 60 to get it. But maybe not.
Cool, i still have time I suppose. Just hope it isn’t a ridiculously low drop rate. Would love to see SM in its original form again.

I did one wing once in classic. Someone else was leading the way. I got a nice staff.
Today I went inside, no idea of the map. Killed a boss, my bags were full, and said to myself maybe I’d come back later.

There’s a few formerly-removed mogs in there, and (presumably), the Corrupted Ashbringer event if you somehow have one from Vanilla.
Also, in the Armory wing, the Scarlet Trainees have a chance of dropping the Scarlet Crusade Tabard. Technically not removed, but much easier to obtain in the old version. For the record, in the remakes, I’ve never seen the tabard drop. But I ran Armory twice, and one dropped for me.
You can use the tabard to buy exclusive mogs from a vendor on Darkmoon Island.
It drops from Herod in the “revamped” ones I believe. I spent 67 runs on that before lol, darn I shoulda just waited
Yeah, I got lucky myself. Had a guildie run me through Armory back in Cata before the remakes happened, and snagged the tabard. In the intervening years of running the remakes while leveling characters, I’ve never seen Herod drop it, but I know it’s there.
