I just restarted battlenet and it’s still there for me. Says 3pm. It’s 2:41pm. They got about 19 minutes.
I do agree with Elgrippa that they’re probably just merging tabs and doing it one server at a time. Since the anniversary realms are basically gonna be classic+ I’d imagine it’s going to have it’s own tab, and like Elgrippa said they’re probably just consolidating the two existing ones.
They’re probably moving the two HC servers to the Era tab. In the Realms status list they are no longer tagged as Hardcore, but as PvE and both offline.
I’ve mainly just been using HC these last few days to test leveling route strats for when anni. servers go live so I can get away from the hordes of freshies and fairweather gamers as fast as possible.
That may be the case. I would love to know if they were using copies of actual data (state snapshots, like git) or if they were trying to rebuild state from transactional data (delta files, like early perforce). My guess is on the latter though. Could be wrong.
We have many more steps to take with Hardcore during a full patch update like this one. Those steps are all focused on finding any issue that has even a remote chance of causing players to die. If we find such an issue, we go through a whole process of understanding it, reproducing it, designing a fix, testing the fix, and applying the fix before we open Hardcore realms publicly.
Issues like that can be safely tolerated on the non-Hardcore Classic Era realms for a little while, and of course, we apply our fixes to Classic Era realms as well as Hardcore realms as we go.
