OMG I remember this I better grab 3 drinks its happy hour somewhere.
This here one:
Nope, theyâre not as I type this.
Earlier they WERE in the Era list marked âhardcoreâ but they were removed a bit later.
If something happened to my HC chars idk if I can mentally go to work tomorrow morning.
Thatâs different though. If something happens to the guild bank Blizzard is within their legal rights to be able to just shrug and say âTough luck, champ.â. Servers are a bit different. They start becoming financially liable if they just get rid of entire servers, some of which were peoples only reason for spending money, without some way to migrate off beforehand or give some sort of heads up that the servers being shut down.
Cool story but itâs not different (necessarily).
Your âthey can just roll it backâ nonsense is actual nonsense.
Itâs probably fine as far as storage goes, but man⌠imagine being part of MicrosoftâŚ
Do you think my entire past years worth of character data vanishing would fall under bereavement.
It would be for my WOW sub.
Im trying to stay calm but mentally I am throwing stuff in the streets and screaming WHY.
No itâs not. You clearly donât know what youâre talking about. Anything, and I mean ANYTHING you do at a professional level should have a backup in case of emergencies. Not only is it good business practice but itâs just common sense. Hell yeah they made backups before futzing with anything. How else do you think rollbacks happen? Do you think itâs just computer magic that makes it so? What do you think a recovery disc/drive of your operating system is?
Get a frigginâ clue bruh.
IDC about the logistics they better not have lost our servers idc how they did it. They best bring them back.
Honestly, thereâs probably a collision.
Hardcore servers had their own ruleset.
Tabs were likely meant to have different rulesets.
Merging them, they probably thought the tags were enough.
The tags probably didnât poll correctly.
So theyâre most likely just disconnected until the resolution path is decided.
I hope your right. I legit am about to go grab a paper bag. LOL
Thatâs no reason to simply make the servers vanish until they can put the Hardcore tab back, is it?
Not to mention we still have 20ish minutes until the maintenance is slated to âofficiallyâ end, so no sense jumping to bold conclusions like âthey deleted HC servers NOOOOOO!â
Not true, that Breaking News has gone so the downtime is officially over!
Donât know, donât use it. Makes sense for somebody, for sure.
Me? Just buy a new hard drive.
These are LIVE servers, and the cost to backup data can be very expensive.
There are likely some features kept, but the nature of data loss is loss.
You donât know what you donât know, and the guild bank feature was pure loss.
The data? Gone.
Is this different? We have no idea.
This is more stressful then watching the 2024 election live updates.
Nope, as ex-Blizzard employees said at the time they have BACKUPS holding the data, Microsoft was simply not prepared to pay staff to recover the lost data.
As stressful as watching your healing running in place just after a big pull
