Hardcore is a fun challenge, but too many variables makes it frustrating long-term

With nobody to watch your back? No thanks.

Lag so far has been the scariest experience by far. Up to level 16 right now, had a few close calls due to lag.

HC is great but it’s long term viability really depends on how Blizzard deems a few things moving forward.

Is that your way of saying you want death appeals or some other resurrection ability?

Best advice is go spice it up with going Horde or different leveling paths. I don’t traditionally touch Darkshore/Ashenvale for no specific reason, but if you get sent back to level 1 then definitely vary it up with different zones to keep it fresh.

I’m not sure when I’ll throw in the towel because I also can’t stand the idea of losing a character in the 50s over something because, like most of us, I can’t play a ton so we’re talking about me being in the 50s by like November or something. Maybe even Dec or Jan.

I think my free WoW time (thanks WoTLK/Retail token) dries up in like May so that’s probably my stopping point anyways.

Honestly really hard to say but even harder to say HC moving forward long term without some sort of plan. Maybe they could branch out into BC but eventually a wall will be hit where dying will simply become too dangerous. There is also about maintaining a healthy player count where you can even do the content.

I can’t say the numbers but for me I know if I make it to 60 I’m going to severely restrict how I would do end game content moving forward to cut risk. And probably after a certain point I would park the character and try a new toon or something or just quit the game for the “challenge” was completed.

HC is a pretty good spice don’t get me wrong and very much enjoying it but the more I level up the more I’m starting to feel its going to be a one time trip at least for me. MY worst experiences so far have been with lag and can’t imagine the crushing feeling of losing your toon because of it.

Some obviously consider that part of the HC experience and shouldn’t be changed but personally it feels like something to tolerate just once.

To me it is the core of Hardcorpse.

As soon as they start allowing multiple lives they will destroy the level playing field that gives the game its reason for being.

Oh for sure. It is a very big spice and honestly big enough that you forget at least for me how bland classic was compared to today’s standards. Just saying it’s hard to see HC surviving long term without some sort of plan. For it’s very rules often clash with a healthy MMO environment.

Or maybe it won’t need to and this is just an unique experience that will end after a while and never go beyond any of that. Which is fine too.

Unlike all the rest of WoW?

This makes no sense

You’re going to need to be a little more specific.

Gnomer is a trap. Gotta stay way away from the ledge… If you suddenly find yourself in combat when you shouldn’t be just start hearthing…

Do you even mage? How can you port with 12 elites banging on you?

I feel like casting a portal before every pull might actually be a viable strat in the gnomer tunnels lol…

That’s the worst part - we were done. I thought “we got it” and…dead.

Perhaps EU realms are not tuned properly in terms of layers? The US realms seem to be doing well in terms of population balance so, I’m at a loss.

Well, anyone who is 60 if they can answer, how is raiding and dungeons? Are there risk takers at 60 who pug or do the overwhelming majority of people stick with friends and guilds?

7 and 5 layers respectively at 8.30 am today  Just too many players for only 2 realms. Blizz’s bad.

I pug all the time, on my 60 lock, and I’m full prebis. I just run dungeons for fun when i’m not raiding. Never had someone die in my party before, and i’ve never come close to dying either.
Also, what risk are you talking about? petri’s are like 25g if you can get someone to make it for you. There is no risk, never was.

Hardcore isn’t for you then. Acceptance is necessary and if you’re getting burned out nothing will likely stop that. You can control certain things though. Don’t do dungeons or raids where you have to rely on people. Hardcore isn’t a damage min/max game.

The priest was jumping around, pulled 3 packs and they all immediately ran to you?
