Hardcore is a fun challenge, but too many variables makes it frustrating long-term

On my third try, got a mage to 31. Did Gnomeregan with a fantastic group (still 8 minutes left on my Elixir of Firepower at the end), until the priest decided to jump around where he shouldn’t have and pulled three groups of mobs.

It’s the little things that make this frustrating. Trusting people AND their connections AND their personalities AND the streamers that kill people for views, I’ve been trained by people several times (and survived), the worry that my internet connection which is up 99.9999999% (repeating of course) of the time is gonna die at the worst time.

And so here I am on attempt #4 to get to 60 and I’m just not feeling it this time. I made it past 30, really wanted to get to 40, but now I look at that wall again and think that there are better things I can do than do Redridge AGAIN or Duskwood AGAIN, etc.

Anyone else getting burned out?

I’m aware that things can do wrong with technology is why I’d never even attempt it. Glad people are enjoying it though.

I found your problem.

You can eliminate a lot of those variablez by just questing and farming alone in the open world.

Just a game, why deny yourself the experience?

Nope not burned out, but really pissed because the servers are so crowded there’s literally standing room only. No matter where you go people, people, and more people. Nowhere can you just stand in a corner and kill mobs or even fish, there’s always someone trying to skin your kill before yo do, or jumping up and down next to your bobber, or throwing in the exact same place.
I never think I would say his but Dang-blast it Blizz: MAKE MORE LAYERS!!!

Aside from launch, I have not had an issue with population.

I’m fine with not experiencing it. Plus, I dabbled with Iron Man in the past and didn’t make it. hahaha

Try different starting areas. For example i got tired of the human starting area so i took one of my new human toons to the dwarf starting areas. This works for me because in my years playing warcraft since 2005 i only really cared about playing humans so these quests are new to me.

Im levelling four characters at once. They are only around lvl 10 right now. Its so if one dies, im not completely restarting and i dont get disheartened. Theyre all different classes so im excited to see who makes it!!!

Im playing the slow long game hehe. Mage/Pally/Hunter/Priest… who will perish next? :skull:

yup. some people might say that’s boring, well fine, go do dungeons, but you gotta accept the risk when doing that :expressionless:

Why didnt you just port out?

Forgot to say I play EU side. We still have queue for one server after 5 pm and the other is stuffed as well. Everybody said it would be a matter of days, weeks at most before the hype died down - seems not to be the case

Gnomeregan is a death trap, no way to control for the risk of someone pulling the pit or forgetting to unsummon their pet or dark iron mines going off or whatever. Only dungeon I skipped 1-60.

Still on first character, Non-AoE 45 Mage.
I’m in no rush.
I rarely do Dungeons.
They are the Bane of HC, specially with PUGS.

char 1: 46 mage - died to internet dc at 3am

char3: 59 mage - died to internet dc at 2am

Too early for me to say, only level 15 on my first character.

It’s frustrating at times not being able to take risky moves, but the excitement keeps me going.

Something tells me you shouldn’t level your next mage between, say, 1 am and 4 am.
