Off topic to the regular theme of WoW forums (complaints, trolls, arguing etc.) I would like to share a positive experience (please no faction bashing).
I was previously playing on a TBC server as Horde, however after everything went to shoot (in game and IRL), I stopped playing for a while. I decided to come back and reroll as Alliance for a new experience. Due to Blizzard’s banning action recently (and one awfully clear-as-mud response to a GM ticket), instead of risking a ban using the Cross-Faction AH (only 3k gold) I just stood in Org and gave it away to random people.
I get myself to level 10, toodle my way into Stormwind and casually ask in trade “new player to server, anyone spare a gold or two to get me up and running please.” No response, yeh okay didn’t honestly expect one, followed up with “Thanks anyway peeps, have a grand day!” and intent to carry on playing.
Maybe it was me being polite, maybe it was the universe or just some kind stranger doing something nice (for all they know I could have just been lying). Random person just walks up and trades me enough gold to get on my way, two more people whisper me offering as well but I politely decline.
I buy 6 linen cloth from the AH and ask in trade for a Tailor to make Linen Bags. Another stranger invites me to group and instead of linen, just straight up trades me 4 Netherweave bags, some gold and then goes “wait, here” and runs to the AH to buy me 4 gun’s for my leveling time.
I was utterly lost for words during the experience. It has been a niceness in WoW that I haven’t experienced for a long time.
So to those kind strangers that I crossed paths with today in my sleep deprived and over caffeinated state, thank you for not only getting me started in gameplay, but for showing me some long-forgotten altruistic kindness.
