As a superstar guild master, I know everyone in my guild has a birthday.
I need a feature that lets me (the guild master ) find out their birthdays and send them cool stuff via wow in game mail. I want to do this without remembering or writing down 500 birthdays.
Wow devs please stop working on dragon flight and instead build me an in game birthday guild gift delivery interface.
It’s very hypocritical to celebrate wow’s anniversary but I am unable to celebrate the anniversary of every single guild member spawning on our planet.
But what if you wanted to be a rock star GM and be able to send birthday plushies or a cake to their house. We should also get to see their name and home address so that you can send presents.
I would also like this functionality to be added to the Guild Master’s toolkit as it would allow me to finally realize my dream of running a guild based on Astrology.
Yeah this would be quite likely a blatant violation of quite a lot of privacy laws without explicit opt in as Birthdays are explicitly considered PII. Which is a major NOPE. Particularly this almost certainly couldn’t be rolled out in Cali or the EU because of the digital privacy laws.
If you want your guild’s birthdays… make a Facebook group.
I really hate to be the kill joy here… but as a dev that’s done multiple GDPR trainings. Because the cost of compliance is so expensive. It’s not just GDPR, there are multiple laws governing kids and what PII they are legally allowed to give out. So it’s not just an opt-in thing. It’s also a “What are the local laws for _____ jurisdiction” thing which is infinitely more complicated.
TL;DR: Lawyers and actually reasonable “protect the children” laws made this impractically expensive.
